Is it possible for something to flow sharply? That was all I could think of to describe Valentino. Everything was calculated, clean, proportionate, but not restrictive - I think this showed in the models and the general vibe (makeup versus hair helped too).

I can't say I'm a massive fan of the pointed, awkward-height shoes that seem to be around this season (Stella McCartney, Lanvin, etc.), but I guess, here, they acted as conceptual anchors (I'm admittedly writing a pretty intense English essay at the moment :D).

Love those ruffles and layers though. Also good to see some Valentino Red once in a while :) Thoughts?

The Cloud and the Bubble Blower.

Can I just draw everyone's attention to the fact that Kim Noorda looks ethereal in this Vogue Nippon editorial shot by Laura Sciacovelli.

Love that stripey hair bow.

Sharing something of today: my beautiful Mel bought me some TOPSHOP tights when she went to London and proudly presented them to me yesterday - I was so excited. They're so soft and preeetty - I'll have to share them some time.

I believe more in scissors than I do in the pencil.

To start with, nobody scream that I've gone and snip-snippety-snipped HD runway photographs, because I'm trying something new so you guys get the high quality of the image without having messy images everywhere, making my runway posts a million years long :) and also I think it looks kinda cool... though you'll all be the judge of that - go ahead, tear me to shreds!

Moving right along.

I am going to have to say that Elie Saab is the most consistently beautiful designer I have ever come across. And who is his set designer? The water reflection on the dresses was amazing! I especially love the nude lace and chiffon in, essentially, the four different shape-cuts in the show. May I also add that the hair was amazing and I wish I could braid my hair like that?

All hail Valentino's stylists and make-up artists - I love the coloured ninja band (well that's what I'm going to call it anyway). "Garden of Eden Cyberworld" is what the collection was meant to come across as, and I think it was done pretty well. Hopping on that chiffon bandwagon too - I think this confirms my thoughts of a chiffon wrap skirt for this coming Winter - I can see it in my head and I know it was on the Spring 2010 RTW or Fall 2009 RTW runway, but I can't remember by who :( help me out? P.S. those leggings are amazing :O

Jean Paul Gaultier did a little scenic tour of Mexico - with a mariachi band! I have to say, I did prefer the jungle end of the collection - those prints were incredible! Though that cage sombrero with cage shoulders was pretty impressive.

And finally, Maison Martin Margiela: such intriguing creations! I'm loving all this asymmetry this year - makes me feel like tipping my head to one side to balance it all out. I am admittedly in the strangest mood :)

Close and Personal.

Alors: it's my post-Fashion-Week favourite details post :D as per always. Candidate #1: Valentino :)

Dramatic cat-upper lids, and naked under-eyes, creeping (some barely-there) shoes, and incredible attention to composition on all scales.

Elie Saab:

Would you look at that beading and jewelling. I've also decided that I'm going to hunt down that shade of nail polish, because it's so warm and pretty.

Kenzo, I believe, simply needs credit for the shoes :) and a lot of the totes:

I loved that they balanced out a lot of the extravagant patterns and prints with nude make up and morning hair.

And who could possibly pass on John Galliano? After seeing all these details, I love it more than I did - there's a thread of 1930s feminism and Gossip Girl that I didn't see before.

As I mentioned in my other post on Galliano, every single model had a unique look, styled to perfection. [LOOK at those heels]

And the last favourite - Giles Deacon.

Fly-eye glasses, coral eyes and little bits of hardware from everyday life. :)

Breakfast on the Go.

Some very quick favourites and smiles from the latest at Paris Fashion Week.

Kenzo: a breath of fresh air - lots of fun patterns cut really nicely and flatteringly e.g. the first dress with stripes :O

Collette Dinnigan: I could rave for years about her silhouettes and spring colours and spotty tights.

And Valentino: what is there that is not perfection? I'd like to know what fabric that is - it's so watery and soft. I also liked the makeup - light under the eyes and dark on top, and the models had clearly been instructed to look at a point on the roof, which made them all look younger because of the lighting. J'adore :)
