Thurley SS11/12.

Thurley's presentation was an adorably intimate little affair at the once-was Woollahra Post Office - complete with a string quartet, cheese platters, and models striding through the crowd, clad in the minuscule details of SS11/12. I'd never thought about khaki sequins and nudes in the same picture, but Helen O'Connor's layering of both a-top finer feathers and lamés has me dreaming textured, patterned dreams of some draped-fabric-land far away.

For the record, I'm very much in love with the jigsawed Mandarin collar blazer above.

Ridiculous.

It's pretty evident that I'm a bit silly in the head, shooting these to show you what I wore to today's packed day about Sydney. I really am as obsessed with the beautiful deep purple velvet on these shorts as they are comfortable (my flash-manic photos really don't do them any justice). They drew a lot of triple takes in my roamings about Sydney today - first for the high waist, second for the what-the-hell-they're-purple, and third for the oh-my-god-they're-velvet. Just as much as neons are set to replace camel this season, I'm pretty sure velvet is replacing everything. And purple is kicking black.

Ginger & Smart SS11/12.

I'm struggling a bit on the sleep front (clearly) and RAFW hasn't even started yet! But Ginger & Smart's stunning SS11/12 collection show makes it that much more worth it. Aside from healthy juxtapositions of leather on sheers, and structured chiffon, I was probably more excited to see that borderline neons pinks and yellows are very much alive and breathing (and billowing about the ankles of 6ft tall models like it's nobody's business). The finer details, too, were a story in themselves: Alexandra and Genevieve's slightly curved hemlines and sneaky cut-outs, inserts, and here-and-there slits caught my attention more than anything else.

And for those of you who thought cloud-like maxis were in and out the door? Sorry. Ginger & Smart says no.

Thank goodness.

LIFEwithBIRD SS11/12.

Early this morning, I had the absolute pleasure of tripping down to the Boutwell Draper Gallery to watch these gorgeous girls float in formation in LIFEwithBIRD's SS11/12 ethereal structures, to the similarly ethereal, structured music. While I did love Bridget McCall and Nicholas Van Messner's playings in prints and associated badassery in leather, it's hardly surprising that the pieces I fell hard for were sheers, nudes, boxy, and asymmetrical drape-age.

I'm now wonderfully obsessed with the idea of sheer tailored trousers, sheer shirts with opaque trim, and flat square pockets.

And I sincerely promise to wear my hair like this for the rest of the week.

Elvira, Elvira.

As you may or may not have noticed, I've had a greater tendency towards accessories than I have in the past - mainly because cold weather makes me feel less classy (ahem) and I compensate for this with accessories. Elivra Sazesh's latest Fringe Collection

does a bit of a salute to old scrunchie days (best times of my life) but with the colour contrasts I'm always after, on top of pure volume. I gave up earrings larger than studs some time ago, but those bright purple fans have me thinking. As do the gold coils on rope necklaces - I'd vote them as the best complement to a little white dress any day.

What I love about all of Elvira's work is that she finds ways to mix rigid structures and softer lines, which really lends her pieces to anything you might be wearing.

CCKUO.

I'd never even thought about printed quilting until CCKUO popped up on my designer-hunting radar. CC's mastery of colour-blocking just as much as print-blocking in this satisfyingly coherent AW11 collection does wonders in complementing the simpler facets of tailoring. I love that each piece takes tiny details from the last in jewel tones or knits, and yes I would wear that black leather quilted dress for the rest of my life given the opportunity. It's like everything badass about a shift dress, a leather jacket, a Chanel clutch and Emmanuelle Alt rolled into one.
