Covet Vintage Co. Silk Blouse - Junk Clothing Lace Up Leggings - TOPSHOP Wisteria Wedges - Night Market Rings

Just sharing what I wore to work yesterday. Don't I sound old!? 8 hours of retail - which has actually turned out to be a lot more interesting than I envisaged. Prime example:

Woman: You have a boyfriend?
Margaret: No... did you want to try that on?
Woman: My son can be your boyfriend, yeah?
. . .

Woman: So you're now my daughter-in-law. Give me a discount?

Fun times.

Anyway - I was never really told what the dress code was, but I haven't been yelled at yet so I guess I'll keep improvising. This amazing semi-sheer shirt from the one-stop-uber-vintage-shop Covet Vintage Co. is the new staple of my life and is happily at the head of the whites/creams division of my wardrobe, and married to my beloved Junk leggings. Mmmm lace-up.

Katerina.

Image Hosted by ImageShack.us

I thought, on this fine... rainy... Boxing Day, I'd take the time to declare that ma-best-fraaand is a babe. And her eyes scare me a lot of the time. Since the last time I shot Katie (back in... March?), we've done a lot of rain dances and dreamed up a warehouse apartment that will (we swear) one day be real...

I shot these in the space of (literally) a minute. The sun had come out, but was going down, after we'd gotten caught (dancing) in the rain and I shoved her in the square of light on my wall and screamed, "LOOK LIKE A WAIF CHILD".

Freaking beautiful alien. (Click on le photos to embiggen).

I'm thinking quite seriously (serious face) about investing in a new lens. But then I think of the warehouse-apartment-to-be :)

I hope you all had an wonderful and safe Christmas! Bring on 2011.

It's Friday. It's Christmas time.

The Cassette Society Striped Shoulder Playsuit - GLUE Store Studded Vest - Greatest Glasses of all time - Junk Clothing Bra

Who cares if it's a streetstyle sin to have icky hair, too much of a good thing, and no shoes in sight - where the good thing is heavy, drapey black, and brass studs and stripes... and I lie I was actually wearing shoes. It's Christmas, it doesn't feel like it, I painted my photos red and green, and I will sit at home tomorrow knowing that I earned $62 at work today... and that I'll spend double that on a half decent New Years' dress. Any ideas?

Back to black and gold - I really like how the back of my jumpsuit is drapey and then the sides of the amazing vest (thaaankyou Sara from GLUE for lending it to me!) are drapey. I felt like a giant alternative blanket, but that's ok. I eBayed these insane steam-punky glasses a few weeks ago. Even if I never wear them, the novelty of looking like Mickey Mouse without the Mouse is still there.

We wrapped up at Stylestalker for the year, but I promise when we start back next year I'll slyly snap some behind the scenes photos. And for those of you who've been wondering about how my Lomographic adventures are going, I have 4 rolls of film waiting to be developed so I will have some to show you all very soon!

Merry Christmas, lovers!! So much love heading to every corner of this little blogosphere :) Stay safe and eat lots!

MINKingPINKing.

Image Hosted by ImageShack.us

So maybe I am a little late in having a MINKPINK rave for Summer, but with cheekbones like Miss Mariana's, that amount of vintage yum, crochet, and the amazing lifewithoutandy.com boys, it's pretty difficult to go wrong. These shots and the almost-edible pieces make want to roadtrip across the States, camp out in a massive barn, sit alternatively in a field with wreath of flowers, and do nothing, all at the same time. Sounds like the life. I need me some of this clothing :)

We Aussies like our maxis despite red hot sunny days. Floral print never looked so good. Do we have an agreement?

Somedays Lovin' Printed Lace-up Back Tee - Vintage Cut-offs - Zoe Wittner Ursula Wedge - Vintage Satchel - Floppy Straw Hat - Cristiana Bracelets

To start with, I feel stupid posting photos where I look generally contrived and bored (sorry - no crazy faces today :D), but Katie (who lent her expert photography hand here) captured some super awesome lighting which I thoroughly enjoyed. So here are something somethings from our adventure today (our sleepover has somehow become extended over about 5 days...).

For visiting busking friends, Boost Juice and discussing meaningless dilemmas (e.g. the fact that babies' eyes take up half their heads...) - the perfectly eye-popping print marbled print of this pretty piece of Somedays Lovin'. I don't think I've ever seen anything quite like it. Conclusion: perfect to live in over Summer, and hope I don't get an interesting zig-zag tan on my back.

And you must appreciate the awesomeness of the back (200m on in a shady lane...)

A friend asked why I insisted on always having holes on the back of my tops and dresses. Don't doubt the awesome.

P.S. I completely forgot to announce that the winner of the $100 Westfield Gift Card! Drum drum drum drum drum...

Myia Bonner.

Image Hosted by ImageShack.us

It was definitely an honour for me to catch up with the talented and star jewellery designer (recent winner of EC One Unsigned), Myia Bonner. With her out-of-the-box design ideas and perfect structural combinations, Myia will be taking on the world and its streetstyle in the less-than-distant future for sure!

Hey hey! How’s it going?
Hello! I am very good thanks!

Can you tell us a bit about how your design work came about?
The Diamond Collection is inspired by my interest in science, nature, trends and traditions. I like to create jewellery that I would want to wear, it tends to be big and bold, even though i'm only little. I started by looking at the current ideas surrounding diamonds, why people wear them, and the associations that people have towards them, from there I experimented with lots of forms a diamond could take, and eventually got what I was searching for!

What is the Myia Bonner vibe?
The Myia Bonner vibe! Let's see... bold dramatic chic

Borderline obsessed with your latest work and congratulations on EC One! The concepts in your pieces are amazing! What was your main inspiration?
Thank you very much, yes I was unbelievably happy to win the EC One Unsigned competition, there was some very amazing designers I was up against, and it was great to meet them all! I would say my main inspiration comes from fashion, I enjoy the sculptural manipulation of creating new forms to wear against the body, and i am also slightly obsessed with Gareth Pugh's creations!

Where do you want to be in 5 years time?
Wow! that's very far ahead!
I plan to continue building my diamond collection, as I feel there is so much more I can do to pursue my theme as a narrative. But I guess, I would love to just be designing and making for the rest of my life!

Image Hosted by ImageShack.us

Which are your all time personal favourite pieces?
Definitely 'Diamond Ring One' which embodies the molecular structure of a diamond. It is the piece that people look at, think about, and then laugh. I love getting a reaction like that. I am currently developing it and it will be on display at the Science Museum in London in 2011.

Who would you like to see wearing your pieces?
I have always thought it would be fun if Marina Diamandis from 'Marina and the Diamonds' wore one of my diamonds purely for play on words!!

Our last interviewee, designer Lisa Brown, would like to know: What is a must have that every girl should have in their wardrobe?
A little black dress and a lot of diamonds to wear with it!

And last of all, what’s a random question would you like to ask the next interviewee?
What is your guilty pleasure?

If you check out some more of Myia's work HERE, you'll definitely be agreeing on her conceptual design genius!

Rose-coloured glasses.

Image Hosted by ImageShack.us

Nothing mindblowingly spectacular today except that we got caught in the torrential rain and ended up looking like drenched waif children at the train station (haha... ha) with assorted flora woven into our hair - don't ask. Maybe I look better as a rose-garlanded drowned rat?

My darling girl Katie is over tonight and we're going a bit crazy crazy. The only way with fun times.

I'm not superhuman though - I still got stabbed by thorns while making this bad boy. It died about an hour after I snapped these.

I would like to put a self-ban on low-contrast, Summery coloured photos.

I would also like to announce that I am completely unprepared for Christmas.

That will be all.

Felt Floppy Hat - Peter Pan Collar Chiffon Pleat Dress - Tan Leather Rucksack - Lector Fringe Low Boot - OPI love - Classic Retro Sunglasses -

I have been spending a ridiculous amount of online window shopping time on ASOS lately, so I thought it would only be fair to make you all feel my extended-wishlist-pain :) Notice I pulled out the Artline to make stressful shopping more lighthearted. Super handy discount codes also soften this slightly though (excuses excuses).

At the moment (if you haven't noticed already), I'm very much loving a mix of childish cuts (baby doll) and grandma accessories (om nom nom hat).

Does anyone else find that as soon as you can't have something, you want it more? Bane of my online shopping life. Which isn't that huge to begin with.

I promise I won't compose my next post in the middle of the night (having just consumed about a litre of water... so humid...)

P.S. who's been following my intermittent tweets and Bloglovin'?

Penny Anne Backless Lace Dress - Covet Vintage Co. Tan Envelope Clutch - TOPSHOP Wisteria Wedges

I've been wearing this beautiful Penny Anne dress a lot more than you've seen on the blog - such perfect breathing space and floaty lace that bodes well for the hottest Summer of all time... apparently (this currently looks to be lies - it's been horribly overcast for the past couple of days). Never mind - at least there pretty mottled sunlight when I snapped these!

Penny Anne really is the sweetest label out - vintage edge helped along by my favourite Covet clutch, girly helped along by the invincible TOPSHOP wedges. No really. They won't break no matter how hard a stomp to loud music (I should probably stop trying).

What do you all think of my hair? Though it required two pairs of hands the first time round, I managed it on my own when I got home today, so you'll be seeing this way more often than what's healthy.

I like to think my borderline-lensflaring is a little Camilla Akrans. Keep dreaming, Margaret.

And thanks to all of you for entering the Westfield Gift Card Giveaway!! I'll be choosing the winner over the weekend (sooo many wishlists to look at!) and I'll be announcing the lucky winner early next week :) And never fear - another giveaway is always near!

P.S. I would just like to announce my in-denial stance on the end of 2010. I don't understand how it went so fast.

Pocket week.

Image Hosted by ImageShack.us

I thought I'd pull together some images I've taken over the past week and a bit to show you a little of what's been going on aside from my intermittent blogging. I was meant to show you all what I wore to dinner tonight, but I'm about to fall over from sleepiness... partially because we got our exam results back in NSW yesterday and today! How little numbers on paper cause such whirlwinds of discussion and activity, I'll never know. Nonetheless, I'm happy :) though I still haven't decided what I want to do with myself next year.

Procrastination time!

Round two Belle.

Image Hosted by ImageShack.us

I've been meaning to blog these happy shots for a good week now, so here's to the latest Belle Bijoux collection! You all remember my embarrassing droolage over Belle's impeccable leatherwork when I interviewed her (read it out HERE), so these new campaign images are definitely printed on pretty paper and pinned all over my noticeboard - for me to stare at and wish that I looked this good sitting on a mirror, surrounded by pretty leather.

More importantly, I'm pretty sure we'll all agree that eye-pop leather definitely screams Aussie Summer - particularly in Belle's signature weave. Christmas is the best shopping excuse ever :)

Nude Lucy Draped Tee from GLUE Store - f.rau Zippered Sweatpants - Tony Bianco Dodge Boots in Ash Suede - RetroSuperFuture Sunglasses

Sorry about the relatively nocturnal blogging! Sunny days call for trekking it to Bondi (YES) and getting our sunscreen party on - I now have an ugly tanline despite my sunscreen efforts, but amazing dessert at Bondi Pizza and skateboarding stacks made life better. Photos to come, for sure!

This is my latest comfort go-to. Two-toned greys never seem to go wrong - not even in high-mercury. The lightness of my favourite pants and the generously drapey cut of this Nude Lucy top from GLUE probably has a lot to do with it... but most credit probably goes to the RetroSuperFuture sunnies. I want to lock them in a glass cabinet and polish them daily. They are the most beautiful sunglasses I have ever worn. Ever. Mmmm shiny.
