Lover SS11/12.

I posted these snaps exactly a month ago when Blogger decided to have a freak out and delete everything - this post in particular decided to disappear altogether so I thought I'd repost it now.

LOVER's 10 year retrospective was quite the spectacle of an installation at the Studio under the equally spectacular roof of the Sydney Opera House. Once past the technological intrigue of models' faces, optical illusions an added dimension of exclusivity (though I have to say I did prefer watching from above), the flow and progression of the pieces themselves were truly breathtaking. As well as directly fueling my absolute need to pull out an all-red ensemble some time soon (and need for copious amounts of lace in my life), designers Susien and Nic, certainly mastered an ongoing argument between the softer lines of trains and floor-skimming hems (more often than not in wide-legged pantsuits - hells yeah), and sharp shoulders.

Needless to say, I'm very much in love.

Oh to own a bright red semi-sheer pantsuit.

Aje and a grand.

Since word go of Aje popping up on my radar, I've been a fan of designers Eddi Robinson, Bree Norris and Adrian Norris' ability to incorporate the sparklier side of life into the every day - namely by the use of buttery leather. It's no secret that I can never get enough of seamed leather.

Aje's AW11 collection, 'La Tribu Russe', definitely speaks for itself on that front. When asked about my favourites from the collection, I would probably start with the boots, then the perfect embellishment-to-effortless ratio, and the rest is history.

Needless to say Rachel Rutt looks absolutely stunning as always.

So, I think it's a fairly good deal that some exceedingly lucky person out there could win a $1000 wardrobe from this collection just by signing up to Aje's newsletter (thanks to none other than the increasingly awesome RUSSH). If I were you, I'd hop to it. HERE.






To be honest, if I had $1000, I'd probably be buying Aje with it too.

VOGUE Australia: Kirstie Clements.

As Editor-in-Chief of VOGUE Australia, Kirstie Clements is among the most respected in Australia's industry which, if I may say so, is definitely fast-expanding. Over the past couple of years, it's been refreshing to see VOGUE Australia pushing bolder concepts and newer young designers as a driver for what has become known as an innovative Australian aesthetic. Needless to say, I was honoured (excited) to have a quick chat about where she and VOGUE Australia stand for upcoming minutes, seasons, years, you name it.

What do you feel sets VOGUE Australia apart from the rest of the VOGUE world?
I think our magazine has a lot of energy; it’s very upbeat and fresh. I like to think we have a global outlook, but with a big injection of local Australian talent, especially with the models and photographers.

Which VOGUE editorial from 2011 has most reflected your personal wardrobe?
Probably Meg Gray's story in Mexico in the March 2011 issue. It was inspired by the S/S Prada show, which was just a knockout collection. I bought the striped shirt, the flounced skirt and the black white and silver woven shoes.

What is your ultimate photographer-model(s) combination?
It changes all the time. The magic is in the pairing. I think Nicole Bentley does a great job with model Codie Young.



Who was your favourite New Generation designer from Rosemount Australian Fashion Week?
Anna Westcott. Very colourful, brave and nicely made.



Number 1 wishlist item?
At the moment I'm on the waitlist for Tom Ford black cat eye frames. I have the sunglasses, now I want the spectacles! Any Gucci blouse would be welcome too.


First thing learnt from this? That I would quite like to go to Mexico wearing Prada. Just saying. Thanks to Kirstie for her time and insight, and to Renee Lynch also!

Some refreshingly comfortable details from what I ended up wearing some time last week when Sydney wasn't flailing in rain. I had been wearing typically teen-years-ed combat boots (which I quite liked with the sweet simplicity of this Living Doll shirt dress), but Mother insisted that hot beverages with her friends amounted to a formal occasion - for which these pumps have become my go-to.

I really haven't shown you enough of this fantastic distressed cable knit either - this will be fixed soon. I wear it so much more than you could ever imagine. I swear Sydney Winters get colder every year.

P.S. Just a heads up that my blogging may be slightly on-off over the next week or so because I'm so p-p-paralysed with happiness that it's exam time.

Mrs Press SS11/12.

I feel slightly silly for having taken so very long to post these favourites I snapped at Mrs Press' SS11/12 runway show that danced through Sofitel to something wonderfully tropical just before RAFW put serious faces behind everyone's sunnies. It was definitely refreshing to see brights and embellishments that weren't so carefully calculated and placed as was often the case during Fashion Week. On top of all this, I so admired Clare's integration of khakis and whites amongst all the eye-pop colours.

If it's even possible, I'm a little more in love with coral and teal than I was before.

Alexi Freeman Stardust Trench - Alexi Freeman Sheer Maxi - Cotton On Black Tank

I was probably the luckiest girl alive to have up-and-coming detail-mastermind, Alexi Freeman, lend me some pieces to shake up at 6am before Uni and share with you all. Those of you who observed my Friday at RAFW will remember something like general appreciation for Alexi's sequin work - which, evidently, is working tenfold in this incredible trench from his AW11 collection. How he has managed to make that amount of sequins still look classic is a bit of a mystery to me, but I'm not going to make any complaints about appreciating its bedazzle-talent.






Ironically, the statement nature of the trench has made me appreciate the longer trench shape that much more - definitely need to get hunting some time soon.

Camilla's Woodstock.

I had the absolute pleasure of tripping on down to Camilla's beautiful Bondi store to watch a wonderfully original presentation of the talented Miss' A/W 2011 Woodstock collection. For the first time, Camilla stepped outside of her niche kaftan zone, and explored the most luxurious side of knits, embellishment and prints. Between being absolutely mesmerised by semi-precious stones pressed into leather, and falling head over (fantastically tall) heels with the earthy red cable knit and turbans, I could not help but admire that Camilla Franks is so much her label - magnetic personality and creative drive included. I loved her take on the idea of oversized, without looking bulky.

I would also like to announce that I am indefinitely in love with the shoes.











Definitely check out more of the collection here! If (and I can dream) I were to own the entire collection, everything would be mounted on walls as artwork if I weren't wearing it this Winter.
