So maybe I don't have my jumping quite as down-pat as this fantastic site Jo showed me this morning, but I'm getting there :) Sorry about the silence over the past few days! I may have been the dork that took my computer on my few days away (which, by the way, was intensely fun), but I was also the dork who thought it would be a good idea to go to two events (and dumplings afterwards) on 3 hours of sleep. As a result, I'm fairly ill as of waking up at 1pm this afternoon.

But all is well with these fantastic pants by Mrs Press - after I returned them to Clare (sob) I started seeing trillions of ways of puzzle-piecing them into my wardrobe. Definitely need to pay a visit to Mrs Press Dressing Room when the spring collection drops! I got this bowler hat at the risk of being packaged in bubble wrap with an enormous 'Raging Hipster' label across the top - the simple solution turned out to be flipping the brim downwards so the vibe was slightly more 1920s (comme ça), rather than the associated chinos and boat shoes.

I would also like to announce that these heels (thanks to my friends at ModCloth) are the perfect answer to drawing attention to small ankles. Weird to say, yes, but beneficial? Very much so.

I consumed food with my dear brother this afternoon and he hates my new favourite Romwe pants, so I wore them. This wide leg business is the best solution for being warm in winter - you could be wearing polka dot leg warmers underneath and nobody would ever know. And because your bottom half is warm, there's a bit more room to play in the top half - though, to be fair, the distressed shoulders on this sweater are a bit deceiving. It is a lot warmer than it looks.

More importantly: If you've been keeping tabs on Twitter and Facebook, you will have observed that I was not so excited with the result of my long overdue haircut that happened yesterday afternoon.

This is how it went. I'd explained to the hairdresser how much I wanted off (admittedly I hadn't had my hair cut in a good 6 months and it had gotten to a point where there is only so much Moroccan Oil can do). Said hairdresser proceeded to demonstrate the length (which I was happy with) and cut on one side (which I was also happy with). Then we get to the other side.

Snip snip snip.

 "Oh sh*t..."

Wooo gotta love that!

So because one side was messed up, the other half had to come up to make it even.

And that is the story of why the hell Margaret's hair is now oh so short. Looking at it now, it probably isn't so bad - can it be called post-traumatic-chopping-off-half-my-hair disorder? I think so. I think I'll like it in two weeks.

Some refreshingly comfortable details from what I ended up wearing some time last week when Sydney wasn't flailing in rain. I had been wearing typically teen-years-ed combat boots (which I quite liked with the sweet simplicity of this Living Doll shirt dress), but Mother insisted that hot beverages with her friends amounted to a formal occasion - for which these pumps have become my go-to.

I really haven't shown you enough of this fantastic distressed cable knit either - this will be fixed soon. I wear it so much more than you could ever imagine. I swear Sydney Winters get colder every year.

P.S. Just a heads up that my blogging may be slightly on-off over the next week or so because I'm so p-p-paralysed with happiness that it's exam time.

Camilla's Woodstock.

I had the absolute pleasure of tripping on down to Camilla's beautiful Bondi store to watch a wonderfully original presentation of the talented Miss' A/W 2011 Woodstock collection. For the first time, Camilla stepped outside of her niche kaftan zone, and explored the most luxurious side of knits, embellishment and prints. Between being absolutely mesmerised by semi-precious stones pressed into leather, and falling head over (fantastically tall) heels with the earthy red cable knit and turbans, I could not help but admire that Camilla Franks is so much her label - magnetic personality and creative drive included. I loved her take on the idea of oversized, without looking bulky.

I would also like to announce that I am indefinitely in love with the shoes.











Definitely check out more of the collection here! If (and I can dream) I were to own the entire collection, everything would be mounted on walls as artwork if I weren't wearing it this Winter.

So aside from me pulling out my favourite pile of tulle from Bardot that hasn't be subject to my twirling for a while, I thought (in the spirit of taking of photos of what one is wearing) you'd like to know about the little Street Style competition Bardot is running where you could win a $500 voucher and star in the next Bardot email newsletter, just by snapping yourself in your favourite Bardot before June 8th. On a slightly different note, who's feeling the Wednesday-Addams-had-a-baby-with-neon-nails-on-an-American-roadtrip vibe? I made that up. As you may have gleaned from my excited Tweet (and happy photo), I finally found the perfect not-red-in-disguise dark lipstick to wear like a boss for the entirety of winter. I should have known that YSL would be the solution - there were oh so many failed attempts with others.

On top of all that, I'm very much obsessed with my Romwe Knit. As are most people who happen to be around on a cold day, I promise, it fits multiple people in some wonderful bubble of warmth - but with enough of a plunging neck to button collared shirts all the way up like a raging hipster.






I'll have to take a proper photo of my new nail polish before it runs out (I'm working through it so fast - good thing it's $2 from Chinatown).

Magdalena Velevska SS11/12.

It should go without saying that Magdalena Velevska's collection has been one of a few standalone favourites this week. While I (and everyone else in the immediate vicinity) floated happily from dreamy neon pleat to neon pleat (the best neon too - the kind that can never be properly captured in photos), Magdalena's finer details in knits and metallics on top of a wonderfully colour-carded game of tips between long-short-midi hemlines came across as seemingly effortless.

I have already declared my undying love for the maxi/mini below, the layering of symmetrical and asymmetrical print (silently mirrored in the stunning braids that I'm now going to spend months trying to master) and, as always, high waisted tailoring.

Did I not say neons on white for SS11/12?

Magdalena also wins in visual captivity. Bold, ethereal and Facebook Page can finally be said in the same sentence.

Other collections of note in my head for today were definitely Shakuhachi and Alice McCall (both of which will be happily blogged up soon!). In other news, it was such a pleasure to meet the talented Napoleon Perdis (whose two-toned lips for the Dhini show this afternoon were absolutely amazing - so tempted to try it myself!), a mix of fun street photographers, and a film crew (I still haven't figured out who they were). And as always, my beautiful blogging girls and guys. Editors may not like us. But it's fine. Really.

I haven't decided what exactly I'm going to be up to tomorrow (the uni-fashion-week balance is a little precarious at present), but I will, as always, be keeping you all updated on Twitter!

I cannot even begin to express how in love I am with this poncho by LILYA - I'm not even going to try to think of a suitable adjective for it. Lisa, you're a creative genius. It walks the gloriously fine line between insanely soft blanket and not-quite-open knit with the oh so perfect gathers on the front, and just as much warmth on the back. I've never appreciated mohair this much.

This fantastic leather cuff has become attached to my arm over the past week - I've randomly threaded a few skinny black satin ribbons through it to offset the sharpness of the laser-cutting. It accidentally coordinates with my favourite Penny Anne cami, so the two happily cruise through life together, which suits me just fine.






At some point, I'm going to have to find the time (or get up a half hour earlier) to snap photos for you all when it isn't dark - difficult when it gets dark at something stupid o'clock like 5pm. But I shall try :) and hope that the day I decide to get up at 6, it isn't raining.

This time round, though, I was fairly happy with the darkness. Who would have thought tying this tacky-threadbare-sequinned-something over my lens (I use it is an atmospheric lampshade on good days) would make for awesome scattered light? Can't wait to test it out in morning sunlight!

Dreamin', Lovin'.

If we could just take a moment to appreciate the raw simplicity of these beautiful Somedays Lovin' FW11 campaign shots, we're making a good start. Next top is to snap up every piece before they sell out (significant challenge) and spend the entirety of Winter rotating every single possible combination of vintage-rebel-girl glory (no challenge at all). Evidently, I'm really loving these effortlessly transeasonal prints and shapes - particularly anything that even vaguely drapes (tick), can be buttoned all the way up (tick) and makes me print-happy (tick tick). On top of that, the youthfulness that's practically coming out her ears is precisely what I'm looking for this year.

I quite like the idea of spending Winter in shorts... challenge anyone?
