Y'all ready for this?

Y'all ready for this?

Living Doll Distressed Knit - None The Richer Blaze Necklace from Market HQ - ASOS Boyfriend Belt - Romwe.com Wide Leg Pants - Lorenzi Heels - Covet Vintage Co. Tan Envelope Clutch

I consumed food with my dear brother this afternoon and he hates my new favourite Romwe pants, so I wore them. This wide leg business is the best solution for being warm in winter - you could be wearing polka dot leg warmers underneath and nobody would ever know. And because your bottom half is warm, there's a bit more room to play in the top half - though, to be fair, the distressed shoulders on this sweater are a bit deceiving. It is a lot warmer than it looks.

More importantly: If you've been keeping tabs on Twitter and Facebook, you will have observed that I was not so excited with the result of my long overdue haircut that happened yesterday afternoon.

This is how it went. I'd explained to the hairdresser how much I wanted off (admittedly I hadn't had my hair cut in a good 6 months and it had gotten to a point where there is only so much Moroccan Oil can do). Said hairdresser proceeded to demonstrate the length (which I was happy with) and cut on one side (which I was also happy with). Then we get to the other side.

Snip snip snip.

 "Oh sh*t..."

Wooo gotta love that!

So because one side was messed up, the other half had to come up to make it even.

And that is the story of why the hell Margaret's hair is now oh so short. Looking at it now, it probably isn't so bad - can it be called post-traumatic-chopping-off-half-my-hair disorder? I think so. I think I'll like it in two weeks.

Stillier Necklace - Covet Vintage Co. Silk Buttondown - Vantage Point Vintage Trousers - Therapy Shoes Horizon in Grey - Covet Vintage Co. Tan Envelope Clutch

Day 4 of RAFW saw me marching under constantly roll-in-roll-out thunderclouds in uncharacteristically Summery all whites and the insane comfort of these dear Therapy wedges. As much as people were confused that my attire wasn't actually a jumpsuit (that would have diminished the fun ever so slightly), I do think I need to bust out all-on-colour more often than not. Next stop is red. And after that, probably pumpkin orange. Then teal.

Get excited.

Thanks to Em for snapping these for me! Here are a couple others that have popped up around the place (by Two Thousand and Jo respectively):

P.S. for those of you super sweet people who've (somehow!) remembered, why yes it is Shine By Three's 2nd blog birthday tomorrow (you have no clue how happy those emails made me in the darkest hours of law readings....)!

P.S.S. blogging game is about to be picked up 10 fold just in time for stuvac :p

Get moving.

RAFW2011OutfitDay1

Events Military Blazer - NEUW Denim Denim Button Down Shirt - Hilda Mae Pleated Maxi - Covet Vintage Co. Envelope Clutch

Is it shameful that all I'm going to show you from Day 1 of RAFW is what I wore? At this point in the morning, I find it the only logical solution to getting some sleep some time soon :) rushing between uni and OPT really takes it out of you.

Having said that, I'll have detailed shots of this little ensemble up very soon - everyone appreciated Hilda Mae's super tight burgundy pleating. And I appreciated NEUW's denim. So much warmth in cold harbour-side times.

You have no idea how many subjects of lecture notes can fit in that clutch. And to the girl who asked on the train home, yes I did spend the entire day with this insanely collared blazer draped over my shoulders like a grandma.

I really enjoyed some of the shows today (LOVER's 10th year retrospective at the Opera House was absolutely breathtaking - will have photos up soon!) and it was so lovely to see some of my favourite people, finally meet some others who I've awkwardly known in the blogosphere forever, and to have a quick and happy chat with the lovely Miss Susie Bubble this evening. I'm such a dork.

Will keep you all updated!

But first, sleep.

Ridiculous.

IMG_1798

Covet Vintage Co. White Button Down - ASOS Boyfriend Belt - Winter Kate by Nicole Richie Saxon Velvet Shorts from miijo.com - Lovisa Necklace - Wanted Shoes ROC Wedgie Wedge from Westfield.com.au

It's pretty evident that I'm a bit silly in the head, shooting these to show you what I wore to today's packed day about Sydney. I really am as obsessed with the beautiful deep purple velvet on these shorts as they are comfortable (my flash-manic photos really don't do them any justice). They drew a lot of triple takes in my roamings about Sydney today - first for the high waist, second for the what-the-hell-they're-purple, and third for the oh-my-god-they're-velvet. Just as much as neons are set to replace camel this season, I'm pretty sure velvet is replacing everything. And purple is kicking black.

So here's little old me just before Mrs Press' SS11/12 at Sofitel (will have photos up super soon - the collection was so fun and sweet!):

And, if you've been stalking Twitter or Facebook, you'll have seen this super sneaky little behind-the-scenes snap taken on my shoot with the talented Ash Myburgh this morning - final shots will be here in due time!

P.S. Ridiculous is the word of the day.

P.P.S. The Gigi Vintage Giveaway closes tonight! Get in super fast and last minute HERE.

Somedays Lovin' Open Back Tee - Fashops.com Pocket Shorts - ROC Wedges from Wanted Shoes (Westfield) - Covet Vintage Co. Tan Envelope Clutch - DITA Sunglasses

Evening evening - hope you've all had an awesome weekend! Mine was spent doing everything and nothing. As well as getting colour-happy to compensate for general rain and grey skies (March is great like that...)

Thankfully, the lovely Hannah over at Westfield solved my staple wedge woes with these incredible ROC babies from Wanted Shoes - I can never have enough tan leather! (They don't give my feet any grief either - oh the beauty of platforms!). I plan on wearing them with pretty cable knit socks in the Winter months, but for the time being I'm quite happy clomping around in them with shorts for as long as possible.

My appreciation for all things with awesome backs are pretty much summed up in this amazing tee (my Mum actually laughed that I was wearing a t-shirt until I turned around :p - scroll down). Definitely excited to bust out its slightly burnt-out awesomeness with every possible high-waisted pant.

I enjoy that my strange colour obsession looks like rainbow paddlepops.

P.S. If you haven't gleaned from my Twitter already, I am 100% going to NYC next February baby! I am beyond excited. Now to plan it all.

Covet Vintage Co. Sequined Top - Hurley Skinny Jeans - Tony Bianco Dodge Boots

I know. I'm wearing jeans. And happily at that! These Hurley pretties are the perfect second skin to get me back into skinny denim legwear. Despite my adamant high-waisted regime, I'm liking the lower rise of these ones - besides, they're that much more comfortable to sit down in :)

Rather than wearing these favourite vintage sequins of mine while dressing up, I've taken to wearing them as your everyday sweater. I blind everyone on the train with perfectly patterned awesome.

That last shot took me 500 million yeats to get right. So I'm reasonably happy with it :)

A lot of you have been emailing asking to see more photos of me dancing - I shall get onto that asap.

Check out more Hurley love HERE.

Covet Vintage Co. Silk Blouse - Junk Clothing Lace Up Leggings - TOPSHOP Wisteria Wedges - Night Market Rings

Just sharing what I wore to work yesterday. Don't I sound old!? 8 hours of retail - which has actually turned out to be a lot more interesting than I envisaged. Prime example:

Woman: You have a boyfriend?
Margaret: No... did you want to try that on?
Woman: My son can be your boyfriend, yeah?
. . .

Woman: So you're now my daughter-in-law. Give me a discount?

Fun times.

Anyway - I was never really told what the dress code was, but I haven't been yelled at yet so I guess I'll keep improvising. This amazing semi-sheer shirt from the one-stop-uber-vintage-shop Covet Vintage Co. is the new staple of my life and is happily at the head of the whites/creams division of my wardrobe, and married to my beloved Junk leggings. Mmmm lace-up.

Akrans clarity.

Penny Anne Backless Lace Dress - Covet Vintage Co. Tan Envelope Clutch - TOPSHOP Wisteria Wedges

I've been wearing this beautiful Penny Anne dress a lot more than you've seen on the blog - such perfect breathing space and floaty lace that bodes well for the hottest Summer of all time... apparently (this currently looks to be lies - it's been horribly overcast for the past couple of days). Never mind - at least there pretty mottled sunlight when I snapped these!

Penny Anne really is the sweetest label out - vintage edge helped along by my favourite Covet clutch, girly helped along by the invincible TOPSHOP wedges. No really. They won't break no matter how hard a stomp to loud music (I should probably stop trying).

What do you all think of my hair? Though it required two pairs of hands the first time round, I managed it on my own when I got home today, so you'll be seeing this way more often than what's healthy.

I like to think my borderline-lensflaring is a little Camilla Akrans. Keep dreaming, Margaret.

And thanks to all of you for entering the Westfield Gift Card Giveaway!! I'll be choosing the winner over the weekend (sooo many wishlists to look at!) and I'll be announcing the lucky winner early next week :) And never fear - another giveaway is always near!

P.S. I would just like to announce my in-denial stance on the end of 2010. I don't understand how it went so fast.

Black and Gold.

Covet Vintage Co. Sequined Top - Fendi Vintage Sunglasses - Bardot Tulle Skirt - Rubi Lucy Boots - Love on my arm

So it seems that I have an affinity to vintage sequins - which does make sense. Unless they are hand-stitched, sequined pieces "now" tend to have that slight tackiness to me, with a few exceptions. The slightly sharp shoulders and almost-sweater cut of this amazing top (with a huge thanks to the lovely Ellin of Covet Vintage Co.) stamps it as thumbs up, and cinching it with my favourite Bardot skirt makes me want to dance that much more. Swish swish.

You all remember my manic jumping up and down over my vintage Fendi sunnies I got for a steal a few weeks ago - so here they are in all their glory. I'm liking how the gold frames pick up where the gold trim on the neckline and sleeves left off. By the way, Covet has an absolute treasure trove of new vintage pieces at some pretty impressive prices HERE.

Before we freak out and think Miss Margaret has gotten a tattoo (scroll down and you'll see how fabulously convincing or unconvincing it is), today was To Write Love On Her Arms Day here in Australia, which is a movement dedicated to helping the fight against depression, addiction, self-harm and suicide. So if there's a day or an hour before you go to bed, write love on your arm - and if people ask, tell them.

If you pardon my ridiculous bedhair, hopefully you can see my new favourite carry-around Cream Lipgloss by Aves Cosmetics. The texture is so smoothy smooth and surprisingly moisture-retaining (though now I think about it, it's what you'd expect from something made from 100% natural minerals). You can't really tell, but I tried doing a gradient from the Flamingo shade to the Lorikeet shade, which was fun - I'll try and get some better photos next time I'm wearing it. You can check out more colours and other make up products right HERE.

Sorry about the image and text heavy post!! Hope you're all having a great weekend so far :) I need to get my sleeping patterns back in line. HSC pulls them out of whack big time.

P.S. If you have the clicking energy, do vote for Shine By Three for H&M, and enter the new GIVEAWAY - you only have till Monday!
