All pieces from Nü + Nan

In my little guest-blogging escapades for The Galeries, I've picked out my favourite pieces from my favourite retailers at The Galeries and pulled together some outfits for you - here's just one, but keep your eyes peeled for all the rest over at The Galeries' site tomorrow! Nothing like retail therapy to get you through your Wednesday :) Thanks Katie Halkeas for helping me snap these!

What have we all be up to this week? Keeping busy I hope!

Castañer x The Fable Collective: Behind The Scenes.

By some miracle of my uni timetable, I sorted out some time on Wednesday to not get the 308 bus down to Alexandria (where do such large vehicles hide... seriously) and snap and film happily behind the scenes in what stylist Kim Payne called a 'bright fiesta' of the brightest colours - Castañer x The Fable Collective's campaign shoot. Needless to say, I've already fallen very much in love with the relaxed but undeniably fun colour-pop of the shoe collab - you'll agree when I finish my behind-the-scenes video and, eventually, share the campaign itself. It was definitely a treat to see Holly Blake working her magic!

Aside: I don't think I've ever been on a shoot that doesn't involve faces! Good stuff :)

Cameo Burning Bridges Dress from Material Attention - YesStyle.com Bow Accent Bowler Hat - EVIL TWIN Sheer Maxi from Market HQ

I hadn't had the chance to wear this amazing dress yet - and the foreseeable future didn't hold any occasions quite up to its comfortably cut out awesome - so I took the liberty of making it a little more day time appropriate. This particular skirt does do a fairly good job of that. As does my new favourite hat that probably won't do anything in the way of sun protection, but it's Winter, so I can just declare its function to be head-heat retention.

And a very useful piece of information for you all: for a limited time only, Material Attention is offering free shipping (gah I love it when that happens) - so get shopping while you can!

Now all I need is a Daily Telegraph.

Somedays Lovin' Dress/Shirt - Dotti Opaque Tights - ROC Boots Wedges from Westfield.com.au - Vintage Bag - Market Hat

It always so happens that the arrival of Winter makes me hang on to Autumn and its associated colours and crunchy leaves. This piece of Somedays Lovin' probably does a world-best job of both these Autumny characteristics - I'd never been one for oranges and browns, but this wonderful hybrid of a shirt-dress (with delightfully half-batwing-ed sleeves) really takes the cake for snuggling with skim caramel chai lattes (so healthy...) and/or stomping down the street to restock on highlighters. That was a very long sentence.

My beloved ROC wedges deserve a shout out for being invincible.

I think I might make another trip to Dotti and buy 4 more pairs of tights. So much comfort for every day of the week.

Thank you all for the sweet congratulations from yesterday! I don't think I tell you guys enough how much you make my day (really - comments and emails are much nicer to read than piles readings by people who think they know things about the meaning of life).

Stillier Necklace - Covet Vintage Co. Silk Buttondown - Vantage Point Vintage Trousers - Therapy Shoes Horizon in Grey - Covet Vintage Co. Tan Envelope Clutch

Day 4 of RAFW saw me marching under constantly roll-in-roll-out thunderclouds in uncharacteristically Summery all whites and the insane comfort of these dear Therapy wedges. As much as people were confused that my attire wasn't actually a jumpsuit (that would have diminished the fun ever so slightly), I do think I need to bust out all-on-colour more often than not. Next stop is red. And after that, probably pumpkin orange. Then teal.

Get excited.

Thanks to Em for snapping these for me! Here are a couple others that have popped up around the place (by Two Thousand and Jo respectively):

P.S. for those of you super sweet people who've (somehow!) remembered, why yes it is Shine By Three's 2nd blog birthday tomorrow (you have no clue how happy those emails made me in the darkest hours of law readings....)!

P.S.S. blogging game is about to be picked up 10 fold just in time for stuvac :p

From Left to Right: Isabella Oliver Relaxed Sequin Jacket - Eberjey Delirious Triangle Bralet - Label m. Sea Salt Spray - MINKPINK Steve Shades from Market HQ - Von RAIDEN Boyfriend Jeans - Ladyburd Silky Shadow - Just Gorgeous Gifts Eelskin Clutch - Giuseppe Zanotti Black Suede Wedges

I fell in love with this insane pile of sequins this afternoon (whilst window shopping Isabella Oliver's 33% off sale). It's so hard to find all-over sequins that don't look spectacularly tacky, but this gold set (and the black version) set the bar pretty damn high. I like to think that Emmanuelle Alt would wear this ensemble - thus the sea salt spray (she has the best out-and-about tresses ever) - but to be honest I can't see her in gold sequins. Firsts for everything, Mlle Alt :)

While (let's face it) the whole look would be outstandingly awkward without the wonderful Von RAIDEN wear and tear (even Bianca Jagger would have problems pulling off sequins and Lennons at once), I did have to throw in the eel leather clutch - I have a weakness for eel leather. I only own one piece of it, but it makes me happy to no end :)

I'm not even going to talk about the shoes.

P.S. Thank you all for entering the PRETTY DOG giveaway! I drew the winner this morning... and the lucky lady is...

Nora from Black Balloon

Vintage lovers, watch out - a happy giveaway is coming to a blogpost near you :) keep your eyes and ears peeled on Twitter!

Organic Jammery.

Jammery

Alexander Wang Oversized Shirt from Mrs H. - Ladyburd Silky Shadow in Abyss - TOPSHOP Pushlock Satchel - DLC Brooklyn Necklace from Pretty Dog - Ladyburd Eyeshadow in Bamboo - Monki Betti Bra - DLC Brooklyn Bracelet from Pretty Dog - that annoying vintage SLR I've wanted for 500 years - Giles & Brother Multi-chain Bracelet - Tony Bianco Ballara Boots - TOPSHOP Tall Navy Tailored Pants

Over the past week and a half, I've developed a liking for all things that don't quite sit together in the way of colour scheme, but do so more in the cut and silhouette-jigsaw. First and foremost, if makes for a lot of double-taking and what-the-hell-are-you-wearing, but more importantly (I think), makes the process of mix-and-match that much more valid. So often the fashion week troopers and their Blackberries are far too choreographed, coordinated, and shamelessly planned to the T.

Be planned by all means, but I have to say I quite like this multi-dimensional look of living out of a suitcase with subtle consistencies - here being the chain which, to avoid ridiculous bling factor, I imagine to be worn under the shirt. If that makes sense at all?

The fact that this TOPSHOP satchel is sold out is probably the most depressing current fact of the century. And aside from this entire ensemble looking a little older than my usual style, I do wish I owned those pants.

P.S. regular outfit posts WILL resume soon! Getting on top of all my uni work is proving to be very difficult :)

Somedays Lovin' Open Back Tee - Fashops.com Pocket Shorts - ROC Wedges from Wanted Shoes (Westfield) - Covet Vintage Co. Tan Envelope Clutch - DITA Sunglasses

Evening evening - hope you've all had an awesome weekend! Mine was spent doing everything and nothing. As well as getting colour-happy to compensate for general rain and grey skies (March is great like that...)

Thankfully, the lovely Hannah over at Westfield solved my staple wedge woes with these incredible ROC babies from Wanted Shoes - I can never have enough tan leather! (They don't give my feet any grief either - oh the beauty of platforms!). I plan on wearing them with pretty cable knit socks in the Winter months, but for the time being I'm quite happy clomping around in them with shorts for as long as possible.

My appreciation for all things with awesome backs are pretty much summed up in this amazing tee (my Mum actually laughed that I was wearing a t-shirt until I turned around :p - scroll down). Definitely excited to bust out its slightly burnt-out awesomeness with every possible high-waisted pant.

I enjoy that my strange colour obsession looks like rainbow paddlepops.

P.S. If you haven't gleaned from my Twitter already, I am 100% going to NYC next February baby! I am beyond excited. Now to plan it all.

Substitute Sun.

Living Doll Draped Tank - Somedays Lovin' Harems - Zoe Wittner Ursula Wedge - Dutzi Designs Hessian Clutch

To match my sleepy eyes, I took to hippie-land today. In all honesty, none of these pieces on their own would have screamed hippie in any sense, but put together (plus a slightly overcast sunset before dinner), I think I did a pretty good job of convincing quiet-restaurant-goers that I was one of those sun-chasing teens with a guitar and a field as a backyard. Actually that might not be so false after all :p

Just as the slouchy top is perfect, I am a bit obsessed with the loud and sunny print of these pants. Aside from making up for the failed sunset, the pockets and outrageous comfort definitely speak louder than the colour. Plus the tones are (mildly) in check with the hessian on the amazing clutch from the talented Ariane Dutzi (who was just featured in VOGUE Mexico! Congratulations, lady!) that makes lack-of-hurry that much easier.

As you can see, my beloved Wittner wedges are also on their last legs. Hugest sad face ever. Any suggestions for a replacement? As much as it breaks my heart.

Penny Anne Backless Lace Dress - Covet Vintage Co. Tan Envelope Clutch - TOPSHOP Wisteria Wedges

I've been wearing this beautiful Penny Anne dress a lot more than you've seen on the blog - such perfect breathing space and floaty lace that bodes well for the hottest Summer of all time... apparently (this currently looks to be lies - it's been horribly overcast for the past couple of days). Never mind - at least there pretty mottled sunlight when I snapped these!

Penny Anne really is the sweetest label out - vintage edge helped along by my favourite Covet clutch, girly helped along by the invincible TOPSHOP wedges. No really. They won't break no matter how hard a stomp to loud music (I should probably stop trying).

What do you all think of my hair? Though it required two pairs of hands the first time round, I managed it on my own when I got home today, so you'll be seeing this way more often than what's healthy.

I like to think my borderline-lensflaring is a little Camilla Akrans. Keep dreaming, Margaret.

And thanks to all of you for entering the Westfield Gift Card Giveaway!! I'll be choosing the winner over the weekend (sooo many wishlists to look at!) and I'll be announcing the lucky winner early next week :) And never fear - another giveaway is always near!

P.S. I would just like to announce my in-denial stance on the end of 2010. I don't understand how it went so fast.

Ezzentric Topz Vintage Dot Blouse - Glue Store Khaki Trousers - Zoe Wittner Wedges

I got bored, so I thought I'd try something fun with photo colouring. As a result, I discovered 500 things in Photoshop that I hadn't known before - probably creditted to me never using the thing.

I'm a huge amount obsessed with these fantastic pants from Glue Store - especially that they're slouchier towards the top and come in tighter around the calf area. And really, who can say no to khaki in Summer? I've seen at least 12 pairs online and around the place that I'd readily wear to death. I think I'll hoard them in a pretty box in the attic (I don't have an attic) and some day they'll be a source of supreme intrigue.

Evidently, a little dehydrated today.

I haven't pulled out this blouse for ages - I'd forgotten how perfect its semi-sheerness is. Irregular polkadots for the win - what's up with perfect polka dots anyway :)

Headmistress Watson Lake Headdress - Living Doll Beaded Layer Dress - Zoe Wittner Ursula Wedges

As much as I'm not a fan of sitting in fields in what-I-wore-today (because let's face it - you clearly don't wear that to a field), I couldn't resist the amazing sunlight at about 5 in the evening, and the way it makes everything look super-focused, but dreamy at the same time. A lot like this amazingly sweet dress that the lovely Annika of Living Doll kindly lent me to share with you all. Isn't it just stunning? I could spin in it forever - the layering is that fine and perfect. Similar outlook goes for a lot of Living Doll's pieces! Take a look HERE.

The obvious accompanying choice would have been flats boots and a felt hat. So I tried my beloved wedges and my favourite feathered beauty that is getting a lot of wear (much to the entertainment of those who live on my street).
