Romeo's boyfriend.

IMG_9742

MINKPINK Stockholm Syndrome Shirt in Plum from Market HQ - f.rau Scrunch-dye Zipper Jeans - Tony Bianco Dodge Boots in Ash Suede - Penny Anne Lace Camisole - Cristiana Bracelets - La Dama Knit Rosary - RIMMEL London 60 Seconds Nail Polish in Chocolate Fountain (540)

The idea today, in retrospect, is an unkempt take on the whole boyfriend silhouette.

Despite the fact that these jeans are about three sizes too big for me, I still insist on wearing them. That's how much I love them. The smart thing to do would be to get them tailored... but I uni has killed a significant number of my logical brain cells. So until they come back, I will continue to wear them hiked up, belted up, whatevered up.

What I actually love most about this new favourite shirt of mine is that it, with the cuffs unbuttoned, takes on an interesting Romeo shape. On top of that, it's ever so slightly sheer - enough to see (obviously not in these photos... damned overcast) the staple Penny Anne lace cami that has become attached to me... and is ever-so-slightly peeking out the top there with my knit rosary.

Mmmm gotta love motion blur. Sadly, that's what happened when I refused to use flash as the sun went down. I mean what? There was no sun today. Autumn has well and truly landed :)

Victoria.

Image Hosted by ImageShack.us

Those of you stalking my Twitter will know that I spent the most part of yesterday shooting the insanely beautiful Victoria, assisted by my dear friend Katie. I suppose we could call the day of camera(rrrr) a test - and a super fun one at that. My newfound preoccupation with entangled headgear, floaty fabrics and white eyelashes definitely helped the styling (plus my tendency to pin random pieces of jewellery all over people's heads without notice).

Victoria has this amazingly versatile face that somehow morphs between Emma Watson, Rosie Huntington, Jane Birkin and Angelina Jolie, while still managing to look like herself. It's crazy. I love it.

Note: clicky on the pictures to embiggen them

I have so many more shots I wanted to share, but I'm thinking I'd probably crash all your computers! So for now, they're safely saved away to bust out some time soon.

Victoria is definitely a fresh face and name to watch over the next little while and beyond. Shall keep you posted on this pretty lady!

A few styling references for you:

  • Model's own Printed Scarf as Turban

Drums.

Yesterday I had the absolute pleasure of styling a shoot with Sydney photographer, Kent Johnson. My idea was to triablise my favourite pieces that you guys see me wearing from day to day - it's really interesting how wearing something backwards, or as a different garment altogether, can completely transform the mood - speaking of which, I had the time of my life constructing my odd little moodboard in the corner. I should do it for a living. Anyone? Working on make up with the super talented Maria Bravo was, then, an adventure in itself ("I've never drawn in someone's ear before!") and Zoe (Vivien's) did a stellar job - particularly in tolerating my bizarre demonstrations of tribal dance moves. It was also so fantastic having my gorgeous friend Katie on set with me!

I'll be getting the final shots very soon, so get excited!

Hope you enjoyed the little behind the scenes video and shots above! Sorry about the camera-shake - I couldn't bring my tripod, so I was running between doing things, filming moments along the way all day!

"He's so ugly. When you walked by him, your pants wrinkle. He made fly balls curve foul" ~ Mickey Rivers.

Junk Clothing Colourblock Top - Vintage Highwaisted Checkered Pants - Tony Bianco Dodge Boot in Ash Suede - La Dama Hand Chain - Nu+Nic Treble Clef Ring

A super fast one today before I get my beautiful hours of sleep - I have an interview tomorrow! So very excited :)

My kid brother (I'm in denial that he's now taller than me) laughs at me regularly about these beloved pants of mine. For those of you who don't like them, you can laugh with him at why :) But for those who do, I guess I think of them as my weird equivalent to boyfriend jeans. Same slouchiness, same comfort, same unflatteringness from certain angles... which is why I think they slot quite nicely with Junk Clothing's "model-off-duty" vibe for the latest collection. This Junk top is from this said collection, and I can't help but to marvel at the fun alternation between panels of warm grey and white - and the slightly angled cut that makes it floaty, but transeasonal. Check out more HERE.

And not to forget La Dama chains and my pretty piece of love from Nu and Nic!

Goodness me, my hair is getting long...

P.S. do come and follow on Twitter and Bloglovin' :)

P.P.S. the Mickey Rivers quote is probably the most irrelevant quote I have ever posted in my life (except maybe wrinkly pants?) - I just laughed when I read it, is all - and I don't even know why I laughed.

Because she's lovin'.

Image Hosted by ImageShack.us
Fashops.com Mesh Black Open Jumpsuit - BONDS Singlet - YDELUYT Chunky Stone Bracelet in Turquoise and Silver - La Dama Hand Chain - Fredflare.com Carrie Sunglasses - Tony Bianco Dodge Boots in Ash Suede

I was in a hurry to shoot these today and flicked a weird setting on the camera by mistake - funnily enough, I really like how other-worldly they turned out, so I'm going to have to go through every single combination of exposure and colour preference and the works to find what exactly it was I did. I love thumbs-up accidents as much as I hate them :)

If you scroll down, just take a second to admire the massive chunk of stone that I like to think is nested in an entanglement of different chains (it sort of is) on this amazing YDELUYT bracelet. It's like wearing a watch, except the time is replaced by an impressive burst of colour - I love me some turquoise and raw stones. The silver chains went really well with my La Dama one too - which is a plus!

Given my love of sheers, the completely sheer top of this jumpsuit - though there is some irony in wearing black on my first joyful step into bare legs of Summer. That said, I'll be venturing into bandeaus/sashes under this open top as soon as the mercury gets past breathable levels and this black will be tumbled beyond its comfort zone on some tiny beach down South. God, I'm excited to be done with school.

And who is loving my Fredflare sunnies!? Oversized never really worked on my teeny face, but somehow these do.

What did we all do this weekend? I spent most of today running around Sydney looking for people who spiral-bind A3 paper - apparently nobody does this (Officeworks, I am disappointed :D). So if you're looking for a business venture, that's an idea for you!

Palette |ˈpalit| n. the range of colors used by a particular artist or in a particular picture.

Image Hosted by ImageShack.us
YesStyle.com Double-button Long Blazer - ClubCouture Beige Chiffon Dress - Seventh Door Over the Knee Socks - Tony Bianco Dodge Boots in Ash Suede - Storm London Timeless Watch - La Dama Hand Chain

Looking a bit silly with my mouth open, most of the time, on my way home from dinner with the family, wearing my current favourite colour palette - I can never get enough of browns and nudes. This supremely comfy YesStyle.com blazer is a little more camel-coloured than the photos make it out to be, but the texture and cut are the main things I'm in love with. There'll definitely be enough breathing space to wear this over Summer, and the drapey pockets are hold a surprising number of necessities - my massive brick of a phone being the first. Second is my sweet ClubCouture chiffon that I can't wait to wear to absolute death in warmer weather - the back has a similar V-cut, and whenever there's a slight breeze, I always stand facing into it and watch the pretty layers float around all ethereally.

I received this wonderfully classic watch from the wonderful time travelers (aren't I funny) at Storm London, a few weeks ago and thought it layered really nicely with this hand chain in a bit of a hardware clash. I'll be trying to get lots of use out of this dear watch and these knee highs over the next couple of weeks too - the thought of having to part with my Winter clothing for a good 6 months makes me want to sit at home with all of it piled on my head. Like a giant hat of awesome.

It occurred to me the other day that I'm just constantly cycling the same pairs of shoes, that you all must be a bit bored of. I'm always talking about shoes. And showing you pictures of shoes I want... but I never get around to getting them. I might have to change that. Any ideas, keeping in mind that it'll be getting warm here soon?

Weirdly excited for Monday morning.

Lovebirds, sir?

Lucky 13 Mimi "Birds" Shredded Tee - La Dama Knit Rosary - Junk Clothing Biker Jean - Tony Bianco Dodge Boots - La Dama Silver Gun Show Shoulder Piece

It's still a mystery to me how I don't look absolutely beaten up, complete with shreds, sleepy eyes, rosary, chains, bed hair, stitched knees, and a back alley. Maybe I'm just incapable. Nonetheless, I think the whole jeans-and-a-t-shirt thing is a debacle of the past if you're looking at a tee like this (scroll down and you'll see why), one of the samples my favourite girls at Lucky13 lent me to show you guys. Bringing in the Spring, Aussies - only one short month to go!

I think I saw Birds for the first time two years ago and I wouldn't go outside afterwards. Alfred Hitchcock, your special effects may suck and your green screen may be really obvious (no disrespect :D), but you, good sir, can make a film. And I will never look a crow in the eye ever again. This tee is safe though :)

These two La Dama pieces are making me very happy as of late too - I wore the chain to a cocktail party last week with chiffon, which worked a treat, so there's something to think about with hardware.

La dama: Letty Wiley.

Image Hosted by ImageShack.us

Meet Letty - the gorgeous girl behind La dama, which is fast becoming one of my favourite sources of inspiration and wishlist-extenders :) Letty has such a fun sense of humour, and sent through some of her style inspiration to go with the awesome pieces she holds at the store. Here's a bit about how La dama came about and Miss Letty herself.

Starting Out:
La dama started out on ebay almost six years ago. I sold mainly vintage clothing and after doing this on and off for so long I started fantasizing about started my own online boutique. That same week I came across an article about a brand called TEAMO from Mexico. Their line was inspired by the day of the day of the dead holiday and there was a picture of a girl wearing a bright orange dress with ruffles all down the side and on her wrist was a big clear skull bangle...I loved it! I carefully ripped out the page and put it up on my vision board for inspiration (the picture is still on my desk) I went to Barnes and noble one day and bought a little blank notebook and I started to write down all the designers I would carry in my fantasy store and TEAMO was number one. A short time later I talked to my friend Danielle, who only happens to build awesome websites and we threw around ideas for a couple of weeks and then La Dama was born!

The 'La Dama Vibe':
Affordable, independent style that strikes a balance between distinctive, fashion-forwardness and classic, simple luxury.

The Plans:
I'm working on getting some yet-to-be-revealed designers for fall that I am really excited about. Making more jewelry for the store, it's such a cool feeling to know that someone out there is wearing and loving something that you made with your own little hands. I'm also dying to take a trip of some sort because I haven't had one for years! I'll probably go to New York with my best friend in September to check out some showrooms and maybe go to a fashion show or two.

The Trend Forecast:
I'm not quite sure. I just wear what I like and whatever peaks my interest. I love hair braiding and variations of it. Also, moto jackets, backpacks, and a return to easy dressing, which I have to say is my favorite! Long breezy tanks that double as dresses and body jewelry, which I love... perhaps all in conjunction. Later this summer, La Dama is getting some great simple, yet incredibly wearable, pieces from Sophomore that will be really condusive to this look. We will also be getting Lonely Hearts Lingerie, which will look pretty fantastic underneath with just a little bit of a peek-a-boo.

On Bloggers:
I think they are great. Fashion bloggers have started to take over the world in the last couple of years. Where you used to see celebrities in front rows at fashion shows, now you see the bloggers. This all makes perfect sense to me because they are representing us..the everyday person, so when someone like Rumi from fashiontoast posts something about a new designer shes into, you can be assured that her thousands of readers will be researching that same designer in minutes because the chances that they can afford them are pretty good. I wouldn't be where I am today with La Dama if it wasn't for the fashion bloggers who took a chance on my new store 9 months ago. Rumi, Krystal from whatisrealityanyway, Vanessa and of course you Margaret!

The Future:
Eventually I want to expand the store and sell vintage. I was doing it when La dama first opened but I didn't like mixing the old and new in the same category, so I have something special planned to separate the two...but that probably won't happen for a little while and I don't want to give away too much.

Thanks Letty!

I, for one, am so excited for Sophomore and Lonely Hearts to join TEAMO in that fabulous store of hers!

P.S. I promise promise promise I'll get an outfit post up soon :)
