I should have shared these a few weeks ago, but of course, so many things got in the way! NEUW Denim's showings were, as always, absolutely stunning and wishlist-extending. My 18-55mm definitely served well in snapping the perfect little subtleties and trim-related details, and definitely the best of denim. Obsessed with all the sheers and the pattern on that third snap of jeans!

Not sure if I've shared this wonderful fact before, but the underside of the colour collection jeans are black instead of white threading - so as you wear the jeans, they get newer. Isn't that just genius!?

Hey ELWOOD.

These three snaps from ELWOOD's winter collection are making me a bit excited for their Spring Launch tomorrow evening (I will have some happy snaps up for you in good time for sure). Ever since my discovery that ELWOOD wasn't just for boys (though I have to say they do pick up the boyfriend look wonderfully well), I have been in and out of their new flagship store like it's nobody's business.

Why yes I do have my eye on a number of florals (as if I don't have enough) and a leather vest. What of it.

Check out the rest of the collection HERE and keep an eye out for my snaps tomorrow!

Fast forward, please.

Somedays Lovin's newest collection certainly does not help my intense craving for sunshine and white sand - particularly at this time of year when half the people I know have jetted off to that sunnier, livelier part of the world. Miss Jaye sent through these favourites of hers and I must say I'm looking forward to seeing the rest - I love me the look of that red and playful crochet. Such things keep me sane while hiding from the cold in newsagents here in dear Sydney.

To be fair, Somedays also has a solid selection of winter goodies standing their ground at Market HQ.

I'll just have to keep dreaming of Summer for the time being.

P.S. you have 4 days left to enter and spread the word on the Style Yourself giveaway!

The day the sun turned cold.

EVIL TWIN Distressed Denim Vest - Dotti Sleevless Khaki Shirt - Hilda Mae Pleated Skirt - Therapy Shoes Big Ben Boots - YesStyle.com Braided Tote - Vintage Printed Silk Scarf

I had intended to post these last night but of course my internet has taken a turn for the worse and decided it was no longer my friend. Sometimes it worries me how much I depend on technology.

Anyway - this is essentially what I wore yesterday to visit some beautiful PR friends (more on that later) minus the fantastic denim vest (replaced with a leather jacket because it got too damn cold). What I do enjoy about this vest and the sleeveless shirt together is that they both have a really similar shoulder cut, with the shirt extending slightly further so there's a bit of khaki peeking out the ends. On that note, I was discussing the benefits of khaki-and-burgundy combination with Lee and Yan yesterday, and we have come to the conclusion that one does not, in fact, look like a giant cranberry. Burgundy just happens to solve all problems in life - you should try it some time.

I got this vintage scarf at a friend's garage sale last weekend and it has been attached to me ever since (some creepy middle-aged businessman in the city certainly appreciated it...). The colour are quite something - I definitely need to play with using it as something other than bag embellishment!

P.S. in these dark hours of snail-pace internet, I would love you eternally if you trotted along to visit the Shine By Three facebook page :)

Bardot likes you. So does Wednesday.

Photobucket

Bardot Layered Tulle Skirt - NEUW Denim Shirt - Romwe.com Bat-wing Sleeve Oversized Cardigan - Yves Saint Laurent Brun Vibrant Lipstick from YesStyle.com - Dotti Tights - Therapy Shoes Big Ben Boots

So aside from me pulling out my favourite pile of tulle from Bardot that hasn't be subject to my twirling for a while, I thought (in the spirit of taking of photos of what one is wearing) you'd like to know about the little Street Style competition Bardot is running where you could win a $500 voucher and star in the next Bardot email newsletter, just by snapping yourself in your favourite Bardot before June 8th. How easy is that? Get entering HERE.

On a slightly different note, who's feeling the Wednesday-Addams-had-a-baby-with-neon-nails-on-an-American-roadtrip vibe? I made that up. As you may have gleaned from my excited Tweet (and happy photo), I finally found the perfect not-red-in-disguise dark lipstick to wear like a boss for the entirety of winter. I should have known that YSL would be the solution - there were oh so many failed attempts with others.

On top of all that, I'm very much obsessed with my Romwe Knit. As are most people who happen to be around on a cold day, I promise, it fits multiple people in some wonderful bubble of warmth - but with enough of a plunging neck to button collared shirts all the way up like a raging hipster.

I'll have to take a proper photo of my new nail polish before it runs out (I'm working through it so fast - good thing it's $2 from Chinatown).

P.S. I've been nominated for the 2011 Colourdujour awards and would love if you could all pitch a vote my way simply by clicking 'Like' right HERE! And while you're lurking around Facebook, how about a 'Like' on the Shine By Three page too :)

Get moving.

RAFW2011OutfitDay1

Events Military Blazer - NEUW Denim Denim Button Down Shirt - Hilda Mae Pleated Maxi - Covet Vintage Co. Envelope Clutch

Is it shameful that all I'm going to show you from Day 1 of RAFW is what I wore? At this point in the morning, I find it the only logical solution to getting some sleep some time soon :) rushing between uni and OPT really takes it out of you.

Having said that, I'll have detailed shots of this little ensemble up very soon - everyone appreciated Hilda Mae's super tight burgundy pleating. And I appreciated NEUW's denim. So much warmth in cold harbour-side times.

You have no idea how many subjects of lecture notes can fit in that clutch. And to the girl who asked on the train home, yes I did spend the entire day with this insanely collared blazer draped over my shoulders like a grandma.

I really enjoyed some of the shows today (LOVER's 10th year retrospective at the Opera House was absolutely breathtaking - will have photos up soon!) and it was so lovely to see some of my favourite people, finally meet some others who I've awkwardly known in the blogosphere forever, and to have a quick and happy chat with the lovely Miss Susie Bubble this evening. I'm such a dork.

Will keep you all updated!

But first, sleep.

YesStyle.com.au Long Button Jacket - Supré Denim Washed Button Front Shirt with Studs - Junk Clothing Jersey Bustier Top - SCANLAN & THEODORE Highwaisted Tailored Trousers - Tony Bianco Dodge Boots in Ash Suede - Gigi Vintage Croc Leather Purse - FaceFront Rocket Bronzer - FaceFront Ouro Fino Lip Colour

It got chilly enough this afternoon for me to pull two layers and pants. I feel like this Winter, for me, is going to be much less about last year's asymmetrical layering, and more about boxy silhouettes (as appreciated in my last post) and perfection in all things unrefined, undercut by the tinier details - in this case, the greatest alternating brushed studs on any shirt I've ever seen. While denim, khaki and the (intentional) hair does amount to boyish-charm overload, there's nothing a bustier, high waists and favourite platforms can't do in the name of balance.

Seriously.

And a heads up in advance for you all: liking the insane leather on this Gigi Vintage purse? I'll be giving it away to one lucky reader starting next week, so get ready and excited. For a bit of a head start, start browsing Gigi for your favourite item.

As you've probably noticed, I'm damn tired to the point where dots of white eyeliner on the inside corner of the eyes (my usual I've-had-8-hours-sleep go-to) just made me look like a clown (my accounting mid-semester exam is tomorrow night - who was the genius who decided to schedule heavily weighted exams at dinner time? I should send them flowers).

A trick I've picked up from uni (don't ask) is that cheekbones pretty distract from anything bad that might be happening on your face that day - thus the use of a little of this refreshingly light FaceFront bronzer just below each cheekbone. Respect.

This is one of four of Facefront's 'Rocket Bronzers' - all of which do a pretty good job of covering a range of skintones, I'd say. Check them out HERE.

What a monster post. Back to books I go.

P.S. I finally caved to having a Shine By Three facebook page :) It's pretty (very) bare bones at the moment, but as soon as all my assessments are done, I'll be sure to make it pretty and presentable. In the mean time, just *like* and wait... HERE.

From Left to Right: Isabella Oliver Relaxed Sequin Jacket - Eberjey Delirious Triangle Bralet - Label m. Sea Salt Spray - MINKPINK Steve Shades from Market HQ - Von RAIDEN Boyfriend Jeans - Ladyburd Silky Shadow - Just Gorgeous Gifts Eelskin Clutch - Giuseppe Zanotti Black Suede Wedges

I fell in love with this insane pile of sequins this afternoon (whilst window shopping Isabella Oliver's 33% off sale). It's so hard to find all-over sequins that don't look spectacularly tacky, but this gold set (and the black version) set the bar pretty damn high. I like to think that Emmanuelle Alt would wear this ensemble - thus the sea salt spray (she has the best out-and-about tresses ever) - but to be honest I can't see her in gold sequins. Firsts for everything, Mlle Alt :)

While (let's face it) the whole look would be outstandingly awkward without the wonderful Von RAIDEN wear and tear (even Bianca Jagger would have problems pulling off sequins and Lennons at once), I did have to throw in the eel leather clutch - I have a weakness for eel leather. I only own one piece of it, but it makes me happy to no end :)

I'm not even going to talk about the shoes.

P.S. Thank you all for entering the PRETTY DOG giveaway! I drew the winner this morning... and the lucky lady is...

Nora from Black Balloon

Vintage lovers, watch out - a happy giveaway is coming to a blogpost near you :) keep your eyes and ears peeled on Twitter!

Romeo's boyfriend.

IMG_9742

MINKPINK Stockholm Syndrome Shirt in Plum from Market HQ - f.rau Scrunch-dye Zipper Jeans - Tony Bianco Dodge Boots in Ash Suede - Penny Anne Lace Camisole - Cristiana Bracelets - La Dama Knit Rosary - RIMMEL London 60 Seconds Nail Polish in Chocolate Fountain (540)

The idea today, in retrospect, is an unkempt take on the whole boyfriend silhouette.

Despite the fact that these jeans are about three sizes too big for me, I still insist on wearing them. That's how much I love them. The smart thing to do would be to get them tailored... but I uni has killed a significant number of my logical brain cells. So until they come back, I will continue to wear them hiked up, belted up, whatevered up.

What I actually love most about this new favourite shirt of mine is that it, with the cuffs unbuttoned, takes on an interesting Romeo shape. On top of that, it's ever so slightly sheer - enough to see (obviously not in these photos... damned overcast) the staple Penny Anne lace cami that has become attached to me... and is ever-so-slightly peeking out the top there with my knit rosary.

Mmmm gotta love motion blur. Sadly, that's what happened when I refused to use flash as the sun went down. I mean what? There was no sun today. Autumn has well and truly landed :)

Power walking.

jem-53

You've all noticed that I've developed a significant liking for insanely coloured and insanely textured denim, and this little slice of Billycock Denim AW11 is doing a pretty decent job of fueling that - particularly as Sydney weather descends into miserable, rainy... not-a-good-idea-to-wear-anything-that-isn't-plastic... ness.

As always, I very much appreciate the badassery and youth culture in the Australian born and bred label - this season encompassed in the slouchier boyfriend cut in a feminine colour pop (that first shot - very much in love with those jeans! Jem and Goldy have outdone themselves). Recently, I've taken to dressing in opposites and juxtapositions, so I'd say that pair of wonderfully pink boyfriend cuts would sit amazingly with black power-shouldered blazers and raw-edged tees.

Agreed?

Be sure to check out more of the collection right HERE.

P.S. Don't forget to enter the fantastic La Dama giveaway - you only have a couple of days left to spread the word :) (clicky)

Batootie.

Covet Vintage Co. Sequined Top - Hurley Skinny Jeans - Tony Bianco Dodge Boots

I know. I'm wearing jeans. And happily at that! These Hurley pretties are the perfect second skin to get me back into skinny denim legwear. Despite my adamant high-waisted regime, I'm liking the lower rise of these ones - besides, they're that much more comfortable to sit down in :)

Rather than wearing these favourite vintage sequins of mine while dressing up, I've taken to wearing them as your everyday sweater. I blind everyone on the train with perfectly patterned awesome.

That last shot took me 500 million yeats to get right. So I'm reasonably happy with it :)

A lot of you have been emailing asking to see more photos of me dancing - I shall get onto that asap.
