Get moving.

RAFW2011OutfitDay1

Events Military Blazer - NEUW Denim Denim Button Down Shirt - Hilda Mae Pleated Maxi - Covet Vintage Co. Envelope Clutch

Is it shameful that all I'm going to show you from Day 1 of RAFW is what I wore? At this point in the morning, I find it the only logical solution to getting some sleep some time soon :) rushing between uni and OPT really takes it out of you.

Having said that, I'll have detailed shots of this little ensemble up very soon - everyone appreciated Hilda Mae's super tight burgundy pleating. And I appreciated NEUW's denim. So much warmth in cold harbour-side times.

You have no idea how many subjects of lecture notes can fit in that clutch. And to the girl who asked on the train home, yes I did spend the entire day with this insanely collared blazer draped over my shoulders like a grandma.

I really enjoyed some of the shows today (LOVER's 10th year retrospective at the Opera House was absolutely breathtaking - will have photos up soon!) and it was so lovely to see some of my favourite people, finally meet some others who I've awkwardly known in the blogosphere forever, and to have a quick and happy chat with the lovely Miss Susie Bubble this evening. I'm such a dork.

Will keep you all updated!

But first, sleep.

“Summer makes me drowsy. Autumn makes me sing. Winter's pretty lousy, but I hate Spring.” ~ Dorothy Parker.

Katie's Vintage Black Leather Jacket - Self-made Strapless Leaf-print dress - H&M Belt - Covet Vintage Co. Tan Envelope Clutch - Favourite Boots

Autumn is kicking in with a vengeance - it's that much harder to get up in the morning and harder again to figure a way of dressing so you aren't boiling in this unseasonal sun, but not freezing by the time you get home from chilling (I'm so puntastic) with beautiful people. I made this dress about a year ago with some vintage fabric of my Mother's. Should I be mixing black and tan leather? I don't really care. I don't suppose you really notice the black of the jacket - I'm too busy marveling at the sporty MJ-ness in the crazy button clip-here-there and suede panels. Might have to steal it from Katie more often :)

Thought I'd shake it up and try some different brick walls too.

A credit to Katie's photography :)

And here's another teaser for you... guess what's in the box:

There's a pretty giant clue in there :)

P.S. Thank you all so much for your gorgeous comments! You know I always reply, but my internet has been playing dead for a few days now, so please don't think I'm ignoring you if I don't get back to you straight away!!

For want of Jumble.

Photobucket

Just some I've-got-my-eyes-set-ons. Except for the blazer: If TOPSHOP would kindly give me the print that I could fashion into anything I'd like, then I'm happy OR if they kindly gave me that blazer cut in black... I am also happy. The tapered pants, I have been thinking about - making, not buying. I recently got handed a few old suit sets that my father no longer wanted, so I'm considering turning the pants into high-waisted tapered trousers. And the shoulders of the jackets need altering so I don't look like Frankenstein.

Most importantly: new fascination with magazine clutches! Basically an oversized clutch that isn't all floppy and dead, and will pretty much fit about 2 Vogues... maybe 3. Like a laptop case, but cooler.

Something of a good looking cuppy cake.

The ridiculous adorability of this Judith Leiber crystal encrusted clutch makes me smile. And hungry.

Oddity.

Pardon the terrible photos, but oh my godchild: why are these Jimmy Choo bags so amazing? In my personal taste anyway:
  1. Yellow is really not my colour
  2. Fringes in moderation only (please)
  3. Star-studs kill me a little bit inside
And with all of these things mashed into one, I still want these. How strange.

Fight me.

Pure genius: like stylish fighting knuckles on a clutch - you'd never drop it either. I also once saw a clutch that had a leather biker glove on it - anyone know who it's by?

Detailing.

Strolling through NY mag, I came across this brilliant creation of Derek Lam's and decided that I was officially a sucker for well done detailing... and of course cut-out shoes. Kudos to you, Derek Lam - that design kicks major. Also a slight fan of the oversized clutch.
