The Corner Shop x Claire Inc.

Last Thursday evening was spent swanning (the only appropriate verb) around The Corner Shop's Strand Arcade store, happily stroking the wonderful textiles that made up Claire Inc.'s wonderfully curated collection of vintage pieces from a B for Betsey to a Y for YSL. After some convincing from dear Emily, I did end up trying on the most stunning Karl Lagerfeld coat/jacket/hybrid-or-other and am very much in love. I've given it almost a week. If it's still there when I return, it was definitely meant to be.

The textures and colours were such a divine experience (and magical to shoot!) - I'm definitely going to have to recommend that you pop in. Even it is for just a touchy-feel.

With this whole thing, I'm needing you to imagine Brigitte Bardot eyeliner, half-up-half-down tousled hair, and some wonderfully leggy and skinny individual standing somewhere like this.

The star of this little show here, though it may not seem it, is the amazing MOSCHINO belt. I've been slowly getting a little more obsessed with this belt by the day - makes for fantastic procrastination - and, so far, have been completely unsuccessful in finding it any form other than its fabulous 255 euros... shall we cry together? Hopefully, a vintage one will pop up somewhere for a decent bidding war in my lifetime, but until then, I'll just sit and put together outfit after outfit around it. Or you can go buy it HERE at farfetch.com and I'll be very very jealous :)

What the shirt was meant to be (in my head) was a safari-esque, tan suede button-up with pockets a bit like these. But this TOPSHOP one will have to do until I go and find some suede and make the damn thing. On the other hand, these TOPSHOP boots - aaaaah I need them! I wear heels far too often and it really can't be good for my feet - but then I'm not really willing to wear gladiators flats like that all Summer that have no arch support (I think I'm prone to sore arches). My little limbo between Summer and Winter (duh in the cable knit - yum - and turban), I guess.

And that cuff - I don't think there's much to be said about it except that it's fabulous and that I've no realise that I own zero cuffs... :O shopping time? Check out HERE and tell me what you think.

Dear Jean.

To Hermès It May Concern:

Being caught up in my world of study and artful daydreaming, I have not been quite as frequent (at all) in reviewing the international runways as is usually the case. So, on the final day of Fashion Month (so to speak), I thought I would begin with my favourite.

So, I write to appreciate the pure Hermès-ness of Jean Paul's latest and last design efforts for Hermès SS10/11. Just as I loved the equestrian dressage corps marching around under chandeliers, the smooth transitions that followed, between different cuts, colours and textures, demanded attention to detail and so an overall sharply glamorous collection. While the show did echo elements of last season's Sherlock Holmes, the subtle layering and accessories (namely body harnesses) set it apart on a wonderfully transeasonal trajectory.

This may or may not have been helped by the fact that these shots are taken on film (and I happen to be on the hunt for a good old school film SLR). Regardless, you have fueled my penchant for blazers, bright red, skinny belts, high-waisted wide-leg trousers with tailor creases, sheer chiffon of the floaty variety, and leather.

I'm also starting to think that MOSCHINO could, perhaps, learn a thing or two about the use of runway hats from you. Just saying.

Moschino FW10.

As much as I realise that hats and glasses are Moschino's vibe, I must say did love the collection so much more with the eyes-up blocked out :)

Having said that, I absolutely adored the power shoulders, houndstooth, leather gloves, tights, stripes and apparent adaptation of Renaissance.

It was so refreshing to see a collection that wasn't nearly as intense as Milan tends to be!

This has to be my favourite editorial so far this year. The lighting is just amazing, and those sunbursts and bubbles make me want to fly to a European Summer and walk down the street in pretty things all day. But then again, I want to do that all the time :)
