I'm fairly excited to share the news that Lipsy London is landing in 67 MYER stores and on the MYER Miss Shop site this weekend. In celebration of this (yes, I'm celebrating), I was asked to self-shot three of my favourite Lipsy pieces to share with you all, so here they are.

I absolutely adore the cuts of these three pieces - the lace dress is really quite something (may have to get myself to a MYER on Sunday and bar anyone else from touching it).

Some styling references for you:
  1. Lipsy Lace Dress - Yves Saint Laurent Vibrant Brown Lipstick from YesStyle.com
  2. Lipsy Trench - Polli Pendant
  3. Lipsy Shorts - Vintage Shirt - Vintage Cuff
So hop to a MYER if you happen to be in Australia and let me know what you think of the collection!

P.S. I cannot even begin to express how much I appreciate that it's Friday

P.P.S. Thank you so much for all your love and emails regarding my guest-blogging for The Galeries! Be sure to check out my last post for them right HERE.

Aves, aves.

Image Hosted by ImageShack.us

I know I don't talk about make up often - mainly because I try not to wear a lot of it too often - but today, we have the biggest exception you've seen for a long while. The reason I don't like wearing a lot of make up is because I'm weirdly paranoid about dusting things all over my face, most likely due to ongoing experiences with ridiculous cake stage make up involved in dance. The solution? Aves Cosmetics! Aves already gets brownie points from me because they're an Aussie label. On top of that, everything is Australian made with all natural ingredients to ease my paranoia :D The lovely Miss Bonnie from Aves also recently launched the online store, with a lot of make up tips and techniques on the way in the next couple of weeks, so keep your eye out for those!

I've always thought that make up products that are pretty to look at always look that much better on - so I'd say you need to be stopping by Aves HERE to eye up the impressive range of colours they have in store.

What happens.

Image Hosted by ImageShack.us

For the second time in two weeks, I really must be apologising for my missing a day (yesterday). I was exhausted due to all things ridiculous. One of those things was, however, really quite worth it - i.e. dear Sophie's Las Vegas themed 18th (she so old :O) that was awesome beyond words. Happy belated Birthday Miss Sophie :)

These photos were taken by the awesome Kath Mills, whose camera I need to be enquiring about. Don't you love film photography? Gotta love me some Black Jack and Roulette... supreme fluke land.

I guess this isn't an outfit as such, but I'm wearing my vintage fur (there were so many floating around that night - I spent a good half hour running around stroking them), my currently over-used black backless maxi, assorted bling as the high rollers do it, and the awesome Retrofuturist lipstick from Lime Crime that soldiered strong all night despite numerous straws and chewing ice. It's a tendency of mine - if there is ice, I chew it.

Having said all this, I swear I swear: outfit post tomorrow :) Get excited.

And if I haven't replied to your beautiful comments (which I know I haven't on oh so many occasions with a rapidly multiplying inbox count to show it), I still love you! I have somehow managed to become snowed under in life without actually having any deadlines. I'm talented like that.

What did you all get up to over the weekend?

SpinDizzyFall Vintage Sunglasses - Lime Crime Lipstick in 'Retrofuturist' - Junk Clothing Floral Cutout Dress

I've been searching for a perfect fire engine lipstick that doesn't look like plastic (as they tend to do), and this suitably eye-popping shade thanks to Erica over at Lime Crime has, thankfully, ended that search - one can only take so many testers in a day, and I do hate how makeup counter tissues fasten themselves to your lips and leave the equivalent of lint all over the place. Not cool. Lime Crime also has some other amazing colours for you to check out - warning that your eyes get a bit watery from impact :)

And what better way to celebrate this perfectly textured lipstick than to pull the PRADA SS10 that I've been meaning to do for a while - it was probably my favourite SS10 collection. Aside from Miu Miu's shoes. But they're all the same family anyway :) Nonetheless, I think I've captured the movement (with a bit of bonus mucking around) that I was so obsessed with in that campaign - next stop is to own those lucite shoes (... yeah right).

You're going to have to excuse my flicky-out layers that are 1) impossible to de-flick and 2) impossible to fake a fringe with, but I think the monochrome floral print and heart cutout on this Junk dress makes up for that. It's probably as close as I'm ever going to get to owning the amazing digital prints of that PRADA collection too, so that's always a plus!

Another thing to ignore are my slightly swollen cheeks - my wisdom teeth have chosen a really inconvenient time to start kicking my gums (yummeh) so it's a tad painful.

Phoenix Keating.

Image Hosted by ImageShack.us

Phoenix Keating is as an incredible a person as he is a designer, an artist, and most importantly, a personality.

I know him as having such an real passion for style and innovation, and his debut collection speaks for years into a future on the cutting edge. I talk so often about fresh talent, and to me, Phoenix has combined that, foresight and an honed eye to communicate the concepts that explode as an art form. And really - with a name like Phoenix Keating, this boy's going far. :)

Hey hey, how's it going?
I'm great lovely!

How did you start out with design?
I've wanted to be a designer since I was about 14, I have always had a passion for fashion design and art within clothing, so I thought "Why not become a designer".

Image Hosted by ImageShack.us

I'm obsessed with the vibe of your debut collection - what was your biggest inspiration?
Well, my biggest inspiration was the power of disability, which really came to me when I met a blind cat, who, despite being completely blind, managed to make its way around the entire house and garden. I transformed the cat into a woman, and gave her a very hearty curiosity in clothes.

Who's your style icon of the moment?
Hmmm… that would have to be Marlene Dietrich

Can you tell us a bit about what you're working on now?
Hehe, nope. All I can say is that I have designed next season's collection and it's going in a good direction.

Where do you see yourself in 5 years time?
Hopefully I would love to be known as a designer/stylist…

What do you think of bloggers?
Bloggers make the world go round! Haha!

One of our previous interviewees, designer Jacinta Wilson, would like to know: What would be your most surreal moment you have experienced to date?
To date? The first time I meditated. Fucking unreal.

And last of all: what's a random question you'd like to ask our next interviewee?
Who is your favourite screen goddess?

Thanks, lovely!

You see!? You. See!? Talent in a bottle. It still beats me as to how this can possibly be his first ever collection, and as I said, the vibe of pretty-angry-sharp is obsession-worthy. Three cheers and high fives all round :)

Fashion Forward Festival: Runway.

CINNshe Jacinta Wilson

Runway! This was definitely the highlight of the night. As the lovely Miss Erin McNaught said, it's pretty hard to believe that so many of these designers are very new to the industry - the pieces were so well structured and thought through (so much so that I was inspired to start my own label... and then realised how impractical of me that would be :D).

All I can say is to watch these names. Very closely.

Click on the image to go to the designer's website if you love it :)

Fashion Forward Festival.

IMG_6805

Hey beautiful people! Sorry I haven't posted in the past day. I just got back from the launch night of the Fashion Forward Festival (something I've been waiting for for months) and I cannot begin to tell you how amazing it was - so all you Sydney-siders, get down to Paddington Town Hall this weekend to check out some amazing up-and-coming designer talents.

I'm about to fall over from exhaustion, so I'll leave you all with some sneaky preview photos from tonight - it's a bit ridiculous how many more I have to share.

And a more-than-unflattering photo of what I wore:

Moschino FW10.

PhotobucketPhotobucketPhotobucketPhotobucket

As much as I realise that hats and glasses are Moschino's vibe, I must say did love the collection so much more with the eyes-up blocked out :)

Having said that, I absolutely adored the power shoulders, houndstooth, leather gloves, tights, stripes and apparent adaptation of Renaissance.

It was so refreshing to see a collection that wasn't nearly as intense as Milan tends to be!

Thoughts?

Gianfranco Ferre FW10.

PhotobucketPhotobucketPhotobucketPhotobucket
tfs

Again - all the more need for black leather platform ankle boots. Ferre also reminded me that I need to find some pretty leather gloves - I'm so tempted to go elbow length :)

The one thing I frowned about in this collection is that so many of the pieces looked amazing upon inspection, but because the models were wearing a... lycra bodysuit of some sort, it didn't quite click - maybe it's the need of collarbone.

That lipstick shade is so perfect! Does anyone know who did Ferre's make up? I also love how it matches that last pair of shoes :)

"The girl's a little beat up, a little grunge - she's not perfect." Part deux.

PhotobucketPhotobucketPhotobucket

So we all know my weakness for black ankle boots, bright prints, patterned knits, and people who can pull of messy hair.

Proenza Schouler, I die.

"She's not perfect" was the description of last season's Proenza, and I guess it still applies, but it a sweeter, more accessible way. I would run around all Winter in that knit sweater. And I'd love to see that first clutch hit retailers.

Oui?

Fast Forward.

Happy Valentine's Day and Chinese New Year, all! I'm back from my weekend of intense brain workout, and am going to be really terrible and do a couple of runway posts in a row - shock horror.

Ports1961: I swear, I am going to go out and buy a leather aviator cap and gloves and wear them everywhere this Winter :)
PhotobucketPhotobucket

Vena Cava: Again with the haunting of red lips and the black ankle boots! I also don't mind the top-heavy silhouette that seems to be happening this year - snoods? Something else I've noticed is the maxi dress or skirt which seems to be hopping seasons - yes, no, maybe?

PhotobucketPhotobucketPhotobucket

Irina Shabayeva: Is anyone else loving how she's taken Fall/Winter as a literal concept and exploded it into this amazing costume of... feeling warm? :)
