Chip Chopping.

A turn for the spontaneous and making-me-miss-real-Summer. Real Summer (i.e. painful heat that gives you no choice but to go to the beach) didn't really start until after Christmas. And now that Autumn is just over a week away, I'm sitting and brainstorming ways of layering my Summer favourites. Thankfully, Chip Chop's newest collection, Blame it on Rio, is an amazing sanctuary of colour, bare legs and party party pizazz of... Rio :)







It's been a while since I've worn a statement tee, but these are definitely happening for me. With several packets of accompanying confetti. It's interesting how the right combination of colours can compliment such a simple tank or tee - just as easily dressed up or down.

As promised! And dressing according to the weather at last - I do have my limits :) This is what I wore out to dinner with my brother tonight. Good times.

These Junk jeans have that awesome-comfort level you wouldn't expect from skinny jeans - maybe jeggings (though I've never taken it upon myself to try a pair). The wash also makes them that much easier to pair with absolutely anything with any intention of dressing up or dressing down - evidently my faith in jeans has tripled in the past week and a half! Along with my love for this snood of mine.

Mark Basa.

Mark Basa's work has been an object of my admiration for quite some time now, and I can't believe that I haven't posted his work sooner! I met Mark at the Sydney Fashion Forward Festival, and I can tell you that his passion for his work is so evident - and I guess that translates to amazing tees :)

I asked him to share a bit of his approach to design with you, my lovely readers, and I think it really reinforces what I've said:

My design philosophy is generally design how I please and do what I want. I'm stubborn in the way I won't listen to anyones ideas who I feel might be negative. I don't like to follow trends but I do get inspired from the top designers. More so now as I'm maturing designing wise. I have a picture in my mind, a garment from top to bottom or a single shirt and I try using different media on paper. I'll usually do seven or even more illustrations before I'm happy with anything.

This first ever collection I created is unique. It's bright, bold, has a broad range of designs to suit everyone in my target market and out. I wanted to get people who may not of been "Mark Basa customers" at first and sort of give them a small taste of what is going to become. Sort of a teaser with this range, see how the fashion junkie feels about it. So far the feedback has been incredible! Also I think as I'm sort of a "product" now modeling and designing that both will help each other. One will be spoken in conjunction with the other which means more success on my behalf and anyone working beside me.

As you can probably tell, my obsession with printed tees is increasing at an unhealthy rate - but it's the edge and fun in Mark's tees that really set them apart from the norm for me.

Angry Fembot Army.

AL&ALICIA Fembot Tee [in Off White] - TOPSHOP Lace Back Sheer Tights - Lee High-waisted Denim Cheeky Short - Rubi Lace-up Boots - Night Market Ring

Contrary to what it looks like, I am wearing pants (and not just the awesome tights my friend Mel got me from London last year) - I'm just really stupid and didn't realise how short they were relative to the awesomeness of this tee. However, the awesomeness of the tee remains, courtesy of the lovely Alicia over at AL&ALICIA, one of my favourite up and coming labels that I mentioned in my FASHIONJINX feature. When Alicia told me that they'd only been up and running for just over 6 months, I almost died - their debut collection is so perfectly coherent with every element of edgy, girly and street they decided to incorporate, and having had a sneaky sneaky look at their Cruise 2010 collection (ssshhhh), I'd say that this little Singaporean name is going to be very, very big in years to come.

This particular tee was one of my favourites from their debut collection. The swing cut is simple enough to chill in, but the double layering and almost-sheer shoulders are amazing enough to dress up, do a dance and maybe stomp/leap around when nobody's looking - "ANGRY FEMBOT ARMY" has that effect on people.

See? The model in the (amazing) lookbook is totally thinking about stomping/leaping as well :p
