“Most of our modern portrait painters are doomed to absolute oblivion. They never paint what they see. They paint what the public sees, and the public never sees anything.” ~ Oscar Wilde.

Shine By Three: Margaret Zhang

This is a self-portrait I took a while ago for a collaboration (which I will be telling you all about very soon - sneak peek here), but didn't end up being used, so I thought I'd share it here before I get back to singing accounting formulae.

What, who said that?

And just as love and FYI, I'm wearing an AL&ALICIA tee.

DOLLY.

IMG_7054

Over the past week or so I've been a sweet number of email about my little feature in DOLLY Magazine's June Issue, so I thought (for those of you in places elsewhere in the world), that I'd do a happy scan and snap for you to peruse at your leisure. It was such a pleasure meeting the team and the other girls at the studio - definitely had a lot of fun: huge thanks to the ladies at DOLLY!

MINKPINK Hopeless Romantic Shift Dress from Market HQ - AL&ALICIA Blazer - Rebecca Minkoff MAC Clutch - Pratten Cuff from Just Gorgeous Gifts Lomography Sprocket Rocket Camera

I almost forgot to share what I wore to the fantastic PayPal Cashless Utopia event I ran along to last Thursday night - at this point I'm so glad I don't own an iPhone! The new Paypal app allows you to literally shop from anywhere, split restaurant bills, and all the rest of it (one of those far-too-tempting things :D).

It's interesting that the least form-fitting and most high-necked dress I now own (holler at MINKPINK over at Market HQ) has received the most compliments I've had from a dress in a long time. Aside from my favourite greys, I think green and orange/red/coral is probably the best colour combination of all time - particularly in the case of my favourite Rebecca Minkoff and stunning eel-skin cuff from Just Gorgeous Gifts. Different leather textures are the greatest plus-sign of the century. (Be sure to check out my page of favourites at JGG too - right HERE)

P.S. stay happy on Twitter and Bloglovin' :)

P.P.S. Here we goooo, come with meeee, there's a woooorld out there that we should see, tra la laaaa (this had been stuck in my head all day - had to get it out of my system)

AL&ALICIA Blazer - Somedays Lovin' Cropped Tank - ANISE Tribal Bones Pants - Tony Bianco Dodge Boots - Rebecca Minkoff M.A.C Clutch

A super fast post to share what I had to throw on super fast this afternoon to substitute a friend who was meant to be substituting his mum at a parent event of his sister's. In short, I ended up making conversation with people old enough to be my parents. And people thought I had a child when I was 10. It was awkward.

But at least my favourite visual-kapow clutch was cooler than theirs :) In hindsight, I quite enjoy how the stripes in the tank sort of mirror the fishbone tie-dye in these super awesome pants that will hit Autumn so hard once it's no longer 35 celcius (yeah there was no air-con - I suffered a little).

Despite their age, I still got compliments on my beloved Tony Bianco shoesies!

Speaking of which, I stopped in at the SENSO warehouse sale... and check out the babies I bagged HERE!

OM NOM NOM. So excited to break them in.

Spaces.

IMG 122colsmall

Last week I had the absolute pleasure of shooting with the talented Miss Ash Myburgh on a wonderfully sunny morning on an equally wonderful empty rooftop.

I had a huge amount of fun jumping around with a serious face - Ash is such a talented photographer with really strong visual concepts. I love the slightly distressed vintage quality the photos ended up holding.

And I'm definitely trying out some of that psycho eyeliner some time down the track :p

Sorry - Private Party.

Image Hosted by ImageShack.us

I make it no secret that AL&ALICIA is definitely one of my all time favourite labels for its fresh take on basics, and refreshingly relaxed take on all things that wouldn't work in any other context. I've blogged, photographed and jumped through two of Alicia's super-awesome collections, but this latest one by the appropriately exclusive name of Private Party, is definitely the trump card to date.

The mix of sheers, nudes and blacks with cutting short, cutting off, cutting Vs, is definitely adventurous in its own right - and furthermore, flawlessly constructed. And I'm also now in love with double-sized Lennon glasses :)

Something somethings.

Self-made Turban Headband - AL&ALICIA Alexa Pocket Blouse - f.rau Slouch Denim - Tony Bianco Dodge Boots

A lot of different things today. First are my wonderfully slouchy f.rau jeans with equally wonderful tie-dye. Scrunch-die. Brush-bleach. Something European and amazing like that. I haven't really worn slouchy pants until now because I haven't managed to find a pair that don't make me look like a malnutritioned peg - but I think it's the comfortable thickness of the denim and zips that make them fall decently. I also really like that they make my boots look slightly Acne-esque...

Shut up. I can dream :)

Second - take to a pair of pantyhose with a bit of snip snip, twist, turn, knot and you have yourself a turban.

I was also wearing an insane purple lip colour that Jill from Makeupnet sweetly sent me, but after a significant self debate between colour and black and white, I settled for black and white (I know - sinful repeat of b/w outfit posts... whatever :D). So I'll have to wear the bright purple to another event or other (i.e. something awkward like dinner with conservative people)

Sorry about my boring standing-around, inconsistent lighting and sleepy eyes! Train rides after a day of brainstorms and packing boxes does that to you!

P.S. Incredible little something something coming up tomorrow - Aussies get insanely excited.

Move on over.

AL&ALICIA Meredith Dress - YDELTUYT Sunnies - We Love Colours Sheer Knee Highs in Teal - Rubi Lucy Boot - Lime Crime Lipstick in My Beautiful Rocket

Stealing the show today are these amazing sunnies from YDELTUYT - far far away in the Netherlands (I've always wanted to holiday there, but YDELTUYT makes up for that - clicky!). The gold frame is something I've never tried before, and I've come to the conclusion that I'm just a little in love. With pointed tips that are dipped a slightly different gold, there's nothing not to love here - and 100% UV protection is a plus... take it from an Aussie. I've played with a few different shapes of sunnies in preparation for Summer, and ironically, the weirdest and most wonderful (with a bit of A. Wang in mind) happened to make it to number one.

Next to the new vintage Fendi's of course :D

I can smell Summer. And I am insanely excited. So here's a deceptively simple little white dress by AL&ALICIA to celebrate (the pleats are so gorgeous). These We Love Colours socks are actually a bit more towards the green end of the spectrum than these shots show them to be, but either way, the weather now (starting to feel the heat!) is perfect to wear them - in their sheer glory. Before I left, I decided I felt a bit boring so just enough of My Beautiful Rocket to be the tiniest bit orange was a nice balancing act - tip of the century. When an outfit doesn't click, add something of the complete opposite colour. It always works. I swear.

On a bit of a depressing note though, my beloved bootsies appear to be slowing down to their last legs - despite my vehement denial that this is the case up until today when I discovered the hugest scratch on one of the heels (see below). I can wear platforms and ridiculous heels, wedges, and all other forms of shoe that I declare to be amazing, but I always come back to these favourites, so I'm thinking about how lost I'll be when they give up on me. Call me stupid for wearing them to absolute death, but who wouldn't when they're this amazing and versatile?

I need to find a new hairdresser. The past three have not been the best, and all I really want right now is a trim - not 5 inches hacked off, thank you very much! Any recommendations from Sydney-siders?

Dog days are over.

YesStyle.com Sleeveless Maxi Dress - AL&ALICIA Wind Chime Rayon Twill Blazer - La Dama Knit Rosary - Tony Bianco Dodge Boots - Assorted Rings

I've failed you! I still haven't found a new location - it's really quite poor form on my part. You all must be getting really bored with the whole afternoon sunlight thing too - I will try and find another time in the day to shake things up a bit :)

Having said that, Margaret's gone maxi! This time, with much love and thanks to the my gorgeous friends at YesStyle.com, who have, by the way Aussies, just opened up an Australian site for us: supremely exciting. I'm very much in love with the randomised tie-dye and warm grey on this dress - it manages to make this all-grey ensemble happy, and contrary to your audible complaints, I really won't get bored of standing in a breeze of some sort and watching it swish as maxis do. I'd been searching for a maxi dress that wasn't tiered (I find it awkward) or form fitting (these tend not to be as transeasonal), and this one was more than a little perfect. I love that the top isn't too fitted either - the drawstring makes it possible, if you prefer that, but without it, the option of running around billowy-fashion along a beach becomes quite appealing.

I wore it with my gorgeous AL&ALICIA blazer to my dear friend's 'Winter Wonderland' themed 18th which was lovely and slightly sentimental. And also a shoutout to the my favourite musicheads, Nic and Nu, who proudly presented me with the pictured treble clef ring. I love it to pieces.

So start searching for some amazing pieces right HERE.

Just to be annoying and extend this post further, I made the shocking discovery on Saturday that my makeup bag has all but disappeared. Before we freak out, I owned nothing in the way of designer makeup or anything like that. But there were some dependable basics in there - and the bag itself was gorgeously bright yellow too. So I'm a bit sad and unsure as to whether I should sulk a bit more at my continually unsuccessful searches, or just suck it up and fork out for an eyeliner, mascara, and maybe a nice palette of some sort. Thoughts?

Much love, and I hope your week has started less sleepily than mine!

Wonder why the fight is on.

AL&ALICIA Rayon Twill Blazer - AL&ALICIA Alexa Pocket Silk Blouse - Vintage Highwaisted Check Trousers - Zoe Wittner Ursula Wedges - ShopRuche Sawyer's Havana Necklace

Taking a break between Chemistry practice papers. Nobody do Chemistry. It makes you permanently angry :) Kidding. But do pardon my scowl, tired eyes and fuzzy hair.

This blazer and blouse arrived at the end of last week, just in time to feed my jittery excitement for spring. Al&ALICIA's latest 'In love with a girl' collection is such a phenomenal mix of basics and sophistication and, always, quality - these two pieces are so ridiculously soft that I sat stroking them for a good 10 minutes before I put them on. I'll have to show you details on the blouse some time - it's made up of all these amazing panels and pleats and it has pockets. Bonus points, Alicia! Click HERE to see more of the collection!

The gorgeous ShopRuche necklace was a nice subtle bit of colour too, I thought - the charms are the cutest. I ended up making the little bird fly back and forth in front of my face while I waited in line to buy my excessive hit of vitamin C (massive bag of oranges... om nom nom), and was suitably embarrassed when the people behind me wanted to know why I wasn't walking up to the counter.

Vintage Blazer - AL&ALICIA Angry Fembot Army Tee - Junk Clothing Jeans - Zoe Wittner Ursula Wedge - Rubi Snuggle Scarf - Seventh Door Chunky Gunmetal Bracelet - Bracelet from Puerto Jimenez, Costa Rica - Nightmarket Rings

As promised! And dressing according to the weather at last - I do have my limits :) This is what I wore out to dinner with my brother tonight. Good times.

These Junk jeans have that awesome-comfort level you wouldn't expect from skinny jeans - maybe jeggings (though I've never taken it upon myself to try a pair). The wash also makes them that much easier to pair with absolutely anything with any intention of dressing up or dressing down - evidently my faith in jeans has tripled in the past week and a half! Along with my love for this snood of mine.

Apologies for the image-heaviness - I have too much fun with my black-and-white :)

And who's loving my bracelet from Seventh Door (far right)? I've always wanted a basic, large-linked chain to go with the other assorted oddities that end up around my wrist. And guess what... you could win it in the giveaway! Among some other equally gorgeous choices to be had! So come and enter HERE.

P.S. Am I the last one to have watched the Glee season finale? And am I the only one who cried like a baby?
