Alex Perry: Closer to the money.

Margaret_Zhang_shine_by_three_alex_perry_natalie_navone_harpers_bazaar_commonwealth_bank_martin_place_spring_summer_2011_2012_australian_fashion_blog

Tuesday evening's beautiful Alex Perry affair at the Commonwealth Bank Vault in Martin Place was certainly of some otherworldly extravagance that only Perry's SS11/12 (and perhaps Carla Zampatti) could pull off. Cerrone diamonds were as dazzlingly pretty as Claudia Navone was charming - so much so that the only word I can think of to sum up that couple of hours is 'gliding'. Models gliding, gowns gliding, generally beautiful people gliding.

Before the show, Mr Perry expressed his appreciation for the 'expensive' venue (ba-doom) and the show's grandeur. And I couldn't agree more with his sentiment that one should just buy dresses to sit on a 31-Rue-Cambon-esque staircase and feel 'fabulous'.

But first, you need a Diamond Credit Card.

Bubble-bursting.

DITA Clear Frames - RIMMEL London Lipstick - Events Blazer - Vintage Blouse - LadyLovesGreen Leather trousers - Therapy Tower Heels in Taupe - Rebecca Minkoff MAC Clutch

It was an absolute pleasure to meet the sweet and ever boldly style-comfortable Susie Bubble over the entirety of RAFW. I'm always so terribly dorky (and ever so slightly starstruck) with people I look up to, but it was so lovely to have quick chats here and there with Susie (who was running around OPT like a crazy lady all week!) and seeing her views and approaches to designers and style is a mishmash of art and creativity in action.

This snap was after Sara Phillips SS11/12 (of which I'll have snaps up soon), and conveniently, here are some quick shots of what I wore that day.

These leather pants (from fantasitc Etsy seller LadyLovesGreen) were a perfect fit, a perfect colour, perfect warmth for a bit of a windy day, and so perfectly timed (thank you Ruth!) that it wasn't even funny. I quite enjoy the leather-on-leather that's going on with my infallible Rebecca Minkoff MAC Clutch, and combined with these perfect Therapy block heels (which were definitely my favourite Therapy shoe of the week), drew almost as much attention as wonderfully geeky clear frames and BAM lips. I'm all about a block heel at the moment, and taupe suede is definitely the right way to do it.

The equally sweet and humble Phil Oh (Mr Streetpeeper) also snapped me in that ensemble earlier that morning for Harper's Bazaar's coverage of RAFW:

Thank you all for bearing with me on the blogging! Getting back into the Uni rhythm has definitely been a bit of a rocky road. I promise to get back onto all your emails and questions and sweet comments super soon!

I'm currently sitting here, philosophising about the self and illusions and the mind, as you do. Needless to say, I'm feeling ridiculously uninspired by all this and don't particularly like that what I'm reading challenges my existence. :) See? I even speak differently when I'm reading Dennett or whatever.

SO here's some fun inspiration for you all to belatedly kickstart your weekend, because that's the way we rock, that's the way we roll, that's the we do it d-do it do it do it d-d-do it.

Strangest mood :)

Happy Saturday all!

Party hard :)

This is the kind of lighting I can only dream of achieving. Not that I am, in any way, anywhere close to being as good as Sylvie Malfray. In fact I'm not even on the charts. But I can sit. And admire. And play around with what I would hope would be something similar... and never quite get there :)

I wish I could pull off sitting on a rock like that too :)

Loving the pink hair.

Loving Harper's Bazaar Romania.

How stunning is this photo from Harper's Bazaar RUSSIA? Ms Isabeli Fontani looks so strong and tall (which goes with out saying) - the perspective with Le Tour Eiffel is just right.

Afternoon after.

Lace. Lace. Lace. Lace. Lace.

I don't think the 'Morning after' exists anymore. Macca's runs and the likes take so much out of the said morning that by the time you come to think of 'last night', it's well into the afternoon.

Lots of photos to post from the said evening.

Julia Roitfeld + tie-dye fringe dress = rather awesome editorial.

Strangle me as you will.

Posting this purely for the necklace, which (after a bit of eye-strain) is by Tom Binns. Thanks Harper's - new obsession. I just did some research, and here's some more Tom Binns work:

I'm rather obsessed with the printed discs - genius deisgn. None of them are quite as great as the blue, though - can't seem to hunt it down anywhere. Help?

Long day.

Scans dug up from Harper's Bazaar 2007, shot by Karl Lagerfeld, shooting the lovely Gisele. Greatest mass of feathers and silk alive: Armani Privé and Chanel Haute Couture at its best, I'll say.
