What happens.

Image Hosted by ImageShack.us

For the second time in two weeks, I really must be apologising for my missing a day (yesterday). I was exhausted due to all things ridiculous. One of those things was, however, really quite worth it - i.e. dear Sophie's Las Vegas themed 18th (she so old :O) that was awesome beyond words. Happy belated Birthday Miss Sophie :)

These photos were taken by the awesome Kath Mills, whose camera I need to be enquiring about. Don't you love film photography? Gotta love me some Black Jack and Roulette... supreme fluke land.

I guess this isn't an outfit as such, but I'm wearing my vintage fur (there were so many floating around that night - I spent a good half hour running around stroking them), my currently over-used black backless maxi, assorted bling as the high rollers do it, and the awesome Retrofuturist lipstick from Lime Crime that soldiered strong all night despite numerous straws and chewing ice. It's a tendency of mine - if there is ice, I chew it.

Having said all this, I swear I swear: outfit post tomorrow :) Get excited.

And if I haven't replied to your beautiful comments (which I know I haven't on oh so many occasions with a rapidly multiplying inbox count to show it), I still love you! I have somehow managed to become snowed under in life without actually having any deadlines. I'm talented like that.

What did you all get up to over the weekend?

A very happy unbirthday to you. To me?

Junk Clothing Dress - Featherhead Plume Stretch Headband in 'Natural Grey' - Rubi Shoes Spider Tights

And so I somehow wound up being 17 today. How it happened, I don't know - let's keep it on the hush hush, shall we?

Kidding :) I had, I think, the most memorable birthday to date:
  1. I blew out three sets of 17 candles - breakfast, lunch and dinner (thrice the wishes, people!)
  2. I got more hugs, chocolate and 'Happy Birthdays' than anything I can ever remember
  3. It was nice to be permanently smiling
And now, I feel the need to do a commentary. One of the beautiful gifts I got today was this dress by Junk Clothing from Rena, who wrote the sweet card and has the most beautiful handwriting. It is honestly the most perfect little black dress ever - strong shoulders, body con and all. I'm still lost for words about that one :O

This incredible plume feather headband is designed and handmade by the beautiful Philomena Kwok of Featherhead. I had the pleasure of meeting her a few weeks ago at the Fashion Forward Festival, and she sent this stunner through last week, suggesting going full boho with it. So although my hair isn't quite long enough to pull off the doubly braided and tucked style Phil suggested, I got halfway there (side braid?)... and I definitely did take on the advice of "something unexpected like a sleek LBD" - aren't you loving how everything seems to coincide so perfectly :)

Then come the tights - I treated myself to these from Rubi Shoes on the weekend. I think it's safe to say that I'm a bit obsessed with them. Am I badass enough to wear them with my new Dr Martens? Dare me. Dare taken. Watch this space :)

And with all those pretty new things, I really can't go wrong with my favourite boots, right? :)

Thank you all for the beautiful birthday wishes already - they really did make my day that much more amazing. I love you all!

First Blog Birthday and GIVEAWAY.

So, friends, it's been a year (contrary to the candles on the cuppy cake above). One whole year since I wrote my first (almost laughable) post on this beloved blog of mine. I have nobody to thank but all of you for your love, comments and emails that make my days smilier :)

Yesterday I was thinking about how I could possibly thank you all properly, and it occurred to me that I haven't ever held a giveaway on this blog of mine! So what better to celebrate my first blog birthday than to treat the most wonderful people in the world do my first blog giveaway:

These are two gorgeous vintage pieces I searched long and hard for this afternoon - just for you guys. The first is a copper necklace with amazing details that I was so tempted to keep for moi to hippy/fortune-teller my Winter wardrobe. The second is a very pretty bangle with pretty flowers all along it.

Vintage Cropped and beaten denim Blazer - Lucky13 One Shouldered Lace Cutout dress - My favourite Lace-up Boots of all time :)

Man, I love daylight saving - at 6pm it's still bright as midday. Keeps me motivated :)

I'm currently waiting for my brother to stop taking longer than I do to get ready for a family friend's birthday dinner, so I thought I'd put together a quick post - thus, pardon the weird quality of the pictures.

I found this vintage blazer (which is apparently really thinly woven white denim) a few months ago with the intention of taking it apart in some undecided way, because the shoulder pads were insanely 80s and made me look like Frankenstein. I ended up just taking out the shoulder pads and leaving it - it looks oversized, but in a softer sort of way?

Anyway. I was meant to wear it with a black bodycon skirt which went walkabout, so I ended up wearing my beloved General Pants Co. dress - I think the lace sleeve looks a bit odd (good odd) with the jacket sleeves pushed up :)

Have an excellent party evening all! :p

Slightly ancient.

Tatler magazine turned 300 yesterday. It started out as a thrice-weekly gossip pamphlet in 1709. How ridiculously mind blowing :) SO, at such a ripe old age, the occasion was just a little extravagant - would you look at those tables and tables of cakes. My two favourite covers from the past year:

Pretty in Pink.

So as you can see, I failed a little at the pink theme - my nails were pink! and so was my bracelet :) - but my darling Kitface's 18th birthday was quite enjoyable and made me realise that I lack pink in my wardrobe... something that may need to be fixed in the near future.

A very happy unbirthday, to you.

Last night was quite the hilarious and fun and slightly mishappen 17th of the beautiful Natasha. I wore my fun new General Pants Co. dress (win) and everybody had a lovely time.

Early Birthday, boy.

An early birthday to my darling little brother who is almost at the big 1-4 [bring on adolescent mood swings].

Highly proud of this cake :) Not only was it made by me: it was made completely from scratch. Whipped cream, cooking chocolate, the lot.

Lemon cheesecake, Sir?

The coat is old,
The purse is new,
The dress is borrowed,
The sky was blue.

Something of a good-looking cuppycake.

Do I see 16 candles? :)

On my way out.

How convenient.
