Two steps back.

Somedays Lovin' Dress/Shirt - Dotti Opaque Tights - ROC Boots Wedges from Westfield.com.au - Vintage Bag - Market Hat

It always so happens that the arrival of Winter makes me hang on to Autumn and its associated colours and crunchy leaves. This piece of Somedays Lovin' probably does a world-best job of both these Autumny characteristics - I'd never been one for oranges and browns, but this wonderful hybrid of a shirt-dress (with delightfully half-batwing-ed sleeves) really takes the cake for snuggling with skim caramel chai lattes (so healthy...) and/or stomping down the street to restock on highlighters. That was a very long sentence.

My beloved ROC wedges deserve a shout out for being invincible.

I think I might make another trip to Dotti and buy 4 more pairs of tights. So much comfort for every day of the week.

Thank you all for the sweet congratulations from yesterday! I don't think I tell you guys enough how much you make my day (really - comments and emails are much nicer to read than piles readings by people who think they know things about the meaning of life).

Step two.

YesStyle.com.au Double Breasted Cape Jacket - YesStyle.com.au Highwaisted Canvas Shorts - Romwe Striped Tights - Therapy Shoes Big Ben Boots

It makes me feel slightly old-and-wise to say that my dear little blog is now 2 years old. I would just like to extend a wonderfully clichéd thank you to all you amazing readers for bringing me all this way and for kicking me along into such incredible opportunities - through blogging I've been able to meet a ridiculous number of inspiring people that have been so kind as to guide me a little in an equally inspiring multitude of ways. Then next year is certainly going to be some happy internetted ride. Be prepared!

And bazam: here's me jumping in what you would think are the most unjumpable boots to celebrate that. Definitely not that case.

I wore this cape to uni this week and got a lot of what-are-you-wearings. Yeah well screw you all - I'm warm. It takes a lot of willpower not to sit in the corner petting the super soft navy blue. Disclaimer: Please be prepared to get sick of this cape as a serious repeat offender :) (I have also taken a liking to tucking my hair in to all sorts of necklines).

In my hurried in-the-door-out-the-door blogposts recently, I'd completely forgotten to announce the winner to my Gigi Vintage Easter Giveaway! SO I'm jumping to announce (so appropriately too) that the winner is...

Congratulations lady!! I'll be in touch to get your details soon.

Otherwise, tell me tell me - how has everyone's week been? I feel an odd half-asleep detachment from this space that really needs to be picked up.

Overexpose |ˌōvərikˈspōz| v. expose (film or a part of an image) for too long a time.

Fashops.com Pockets Poly Shorts - AL&ALICIA Alexa Pocket Silk Blouse in Snow - Vintage Taupe Blazer - Tony Bianco Dodge Boots - Lime Crime Cosmopop Lipstick

Two in a row! What is this!? :)

This is what I wore out to dinner to celebrate the end of my exams. A couple of things are different today. Firstly, these incredible camel shorts thanks to the lovely Monika of Fashops.com, that have officially made me ridiculously excited for Spring - the days are already getting a lot longer and hopefully, in the next couple of weeks, I'll be able to wear these high waisted beauties without tights. I know I say this every time, but the pockets really do make these shorts - especially with the boxy pleated shape happening, making it a little bit military, but on floaty soft fabric and perfect with my favourite AL&ALICIA blouse. Fashops has some other gorgeous pieces that should definitely be wardrobe staples, so check them out HERE.

Secondly, my lipstick which actually stayed on surprisingly well over dinner - Lime Crime, I am suitably impressed. This is the Cosmopop shade which, like hosiery, some would deem a no-go simply because it's lighter than my skintone, but the slightly peachy colour is too pretty to pass up for higher mercury up ahead.

And third, my hair is up for once. Boring. Nobody needed that pointed out :)

Sorry about the overexposedness again. Sunlight always works in theory and not always in practice. I think there's some skill required in picking the exact time of day and direction of sunlight to take a perfect shot... which I clearly don't have. I'll work on it - promise. With a bit more time, I'll also make a bigger effort to scout some locations that aren't walls and shady lanes.

The shorts get me every time.

Happy Friday 13th!

Lucky13 Queen of Hearts Dress - Avocado Oversized Jersey Cardigan - Boutique Braided Belt - Generic Opaque Tights - Wanted Shoes Co. Patent Croc Platform Heels - DENTS Leather Gloves - Covet Vintage Co. Tan Leather Envelope Clutch

This dress is another of the pieces Lucky13 lent me, and it does a pretty good job at bringingback some 4-year-old memories of scribbling all over a giant sheet of paper in wax crayon, slopping dye all over it, and marveling that the crayon stayed the same colour. Those were the days. So, needless to say, this dress made me pretty happy with its bright scribble print.

And look! I'm being seasonally practical - getting some wear out of my leather gloves, and my favourite Covet Vintage Co. clutch (Covet is having a massive Winter clearance HERE by the way - so many awesome vintage pieces to be snapped up at great prices)

Sorry about my odd posture - I had netball and a girl ran into my back with her elbow by accident so it's a bit sore to stand up straight! These shots are also a bit overexposed - it was pretty hard to gauge when the sun was going to make up its mind, so in the end I just gave up.

When I have a bit more time, I'm going to stop taking photos in these boring alleyways without having to retreat back to my beloved brick walls. I should also find something new to do with my hair - any ideas?

And what did you all get up to this weekend?

A pocket full.

Boutique Quilted Shoulder Coat - ClubCouture Crossback Floral Dress - We Love Colours Sheer Knee Highs in Nude - Zoe Wittner Ursula Wedge - Boutique Braided Leather Belt

This gorgeous dress from ClubCouture is continuing my streak of perfect floral prints and makes me want to find an endless field and a picnic with pink lemonade and Jane Austen type things (but having said that, the cut (crossback!) and perfect length are just as smiley-worthy). I pulled out this coat that I hadn't worn in a while, as well as these awesome We Love Colours knee highs - half the world tells me that hosiery lighter than my skin is a no-go. Wrong.

ClubCouture is a seriously impressive label that has just arrived in Australia and is also available for all you gorgeous international readers! They offer the widest selection of vibes, colours, cuts, textures, you name it, to jigsaw nicely into whatever you have in mind - they did for me anyway, especially with the extreme versatility of their pieces. What's there not to love about something that can be worn, unrecognisably, a million ways?

And just for you, ClubCouture is offering 15% off items storewide - just type in the code CCBLOG15 at checkout!

Eliza blows... bubbles.

Sportsgirl Sequined Jacket - Water lily Black Singlet Top - myPetsQuare Slash Skirt - Rubi Lace Tights

Today was a gorgeous one of sitting on Eliza's balcony, walking up the road to buy baking ingredients, and feeling a bit sad everytime the sun decided to confirm that it's actually Winter. I think I shall be stealing this balcony more often, as well as this amazing sequined jacket that made my day that much less sleepy (helped along by bubbles talentedly blown by Eliza, captured by Tash)).

Mixing prints, textures and patterns will also be another thing that I'll be throwing around a bit more during this break - layering to fend against the cold (there was frost on the grass when I got up in the morning) will definitely be a kick-along for that.

I'm a bit stuck today - at the moment we're all sitting on assorted cushions and couches watching horrific Sweet 16ths and the Women of Sex and the City THS, while we fatties enjoy our toils over caramel slice and mooshy choc-chip cookies.

How have you all been this week? Surely not as unhealthily fun like Tash, Eliza and I :)

Junk Clothing Mesh Shoulder Top - Bardot Tutu Skirt - Generic Sheer Tights - Dr Martens 1460 8 Eye Boots in NAVY WORN - SpinDizzyFall Vintage Sunglasses

Some black and white fun to start the week - in terms of photography, I've been working on backlighting and clarity. Or as much as I can with a friend's camera anyway. Unfortunately (or thankfully... depends on how you're feeling today), only the first and last of this lot were successful. But I'm getting there :)

So much love for this mid-cropped top from Junk - the perfect gunmetal colour and the smoothy-smooth texture makes it the ideal pullover for anything in pretty much any season, not to mention the mesh shoulders. I'm thinking it would go fantastically with something high-waisted because of the crop - thoughts?

Particularly happy with that last shot :) I've now realised that glasses are so very PRADA-esque in terms of material and the shape is Chloé to say the least. I will definitely be pulling out the red lipstick and pigtails next time I wear these :p

A shout-out to the lovely Courtney and Brigitte for passing on a sweet blog award, which entails me listing three things I love about myself, with a picture I love:
  1. My love of blogging
  2. My wrists (weird)
  3. My self control (weirder - except when it involves icecream)
And my favourite picture is HERE. I'll be passing this on to Delightful Bitefuls, .themoonchild., salad of my life, The Space Boy, and tweet.

Hope you've all had a great start to the week?

P.S. I have some fun giveaways on the way :D and don't forget to enter the current one!

Rush of blood to the head.

Rubi Shoes Snuggle Scarf - Cotton On Body Aggy Tee - Generic Sheer Tights - Rubi Shoes Spider Tights - Dr Martens Worn 1460 8 Eye Boot Worn Smooth in NAVY - Koan Slouch Bag - Night Market Rings

Those of you who've been hanging around for long enough would know of my pickiness when shopping for the perfect stripes. For those of you who haven't, I have a pickiness when shopping for the perfect stripes :) Visual: Margaret staring down a tee/dress/sweater because the stripes are too fat/too thin/too close together.

But here they are. I was so close to buying the cropped version of this tee as well, but then I figured it would be more logically (and justifiably) bought when this Winter runs away and cropped tees with high-waisted cut-offs are acceptable again.

The sun today was a little schizophrenic, which makes me hope that the week-long downpour forecasted for Monday might change its mind - I'd like to run around with tees-as-dresses and layered tights more often than what has been possible. Please. :D

Image Hosted by ImageShack.us
Alice in the Eve Sheer Panel Tee - AL&ALICIA X Romper in Moon Mist - Generic Sheer tights - Dr Martens Worn 1460 8 Eye Boot in Navy Worn Smooth

A double whammy in this little ensemble I wore to the chemist to buy me some ginger tablets (they are magical... I swear), and then to the supermarket to buy a red grapefruit (singular) with the excuse of Vitamin C.

But first, another AL&ALICIA piece that is right up there on the love-of-my-life list. I don't really know what else to say about this romper apart from the fact that it's mind-blowingly cool. It's so simple and sweet in a proper, tailored way - the inverted pleats, collar and pockets kick up to being perfect, and the rayon/cotton blend fabric is so soft and comfy. I've been dreaming up so many ways of layering this insanely transeasonal beauty... imagine how gorgeous it would be when Spring/Summer come around again :) - this, my friends, is why AL&ALICIA is my favourite label.

Whammy number two: guess who is the proud owner of Dr Martens :) I bought them off a friend just yesterday for $20 (I died) because she never wears them (I died) and wanted to make some room in her wardrobe for more shoes (I died). Not only that - when she handed them to me, I realised that they:
  1. were from the Dr Marten Worn Collection
  2. had a Made in England stamp on the sole
  3. would not leave my feet for quite some time
So what if one shoe doesn't have laces :)

And do pardon my miserable hair and puffy face on account of depressing weather and being more than a little sick.
